681  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: What are your bad sewing habits? on: March 25, 2009 09:38:00 PM
- I dont pin anything, just hold it as I go, it works most of the time
- I sew on the floor with a toddler and a dog helping
- There are bits of thread and pins all over the house
- there are also bits of fabric from clipping corners all over the place
- I dont iron anything either, I hate the iron, I just topstich if I need things to lay flatter.
682  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / How do you get a design from the computer, onto the machine? on: March 20, 2009 01:03:49 PM
I've found those sites where you can get free designs, but how do I get them onto the machine from there?  I have a Brother SE270D

sorry if this is a dumb question... so far Ive only really used my machine for sewing names onto things.

I have that machine - its easy to use.
The instructions arent too bad, if you look in the book on the part on embroidery, there is lots of pics that show you how to do it.
You just put the embroidery foot on, put the big embroidery attachment thing on, pick your design and hopp the fabric, thread the machine and push a button and thats it.

688  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: Felt food - grapes on: March 10, 2009 02:36:45 PM
those are all good ideas, but it needs to be safe for a 20month old (who 'eats' everything) and I want it made from all felt to go with all of the other food I made him.

These are so hard to figure out!   He loves his 'gapes' tho so I really want to make this!
689  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bandana Bib on: March 10, 2009 06:49:44 AM
I didnt use a pattern for the pile of these I made - I just cut a long sorta lopsided triangle.  They are cotton prints or flannel with thin terrycloth on the back, turned and topstiched with a small peice of elastic as the closure

I dont know if that helps any...
