I have a bunch of non-nerdy crafts to post for now. Sorry if this is boring!

Prompt: Handmaid's Tale
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: More menstrual pads
Brief Description: I made a few more reusable mestrual pads using scraps of flannel I had lying around. This time I used the supre-soft velcro, which was a vast improvement over the stiffer stuff. Nobody needs that between their thighs!
Project Picture:

Prompt: Farenheit 451
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Red Doll Sweater
Brief Description: This fire-red sweater (that's all I got!) was made from scraps of a human-sized sweater I made. I am such a hoarder usually so I am trying to use up pieces of fabric I have saved.
Project Picture:

Prompt: 1984
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Purple Doll Tee
Brief Description: This print sorta looks like eyeballs (kinda?) I have loved it for a long time, so I am making myself a shirt out of it as well. I am making an effort to cut the doll clothes out at the same time as I cut the people clothes out so that I don't put it off and add to the hoard more!
Project Picture:

Prompt: To Kill a Mockingbird
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Bubble skirt
Brief Description: This little bubble skirt for a doll was made out of the scraps from the collar I made for my friend's dog!
Project Picture:

Prompt: Quote 3
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Zebra Print Doll Shirt
Brief Description: I love Pope Francis. I admire him so much, so when I heard he spoke up for animal rights recently I was even more impressed. On the subject he said, "We have only one heart, and the same wretchedness which leads us to mistreat an animal will not be long in showing itself in our relationships with other people. Every act of cruelty towards any creature is 'contrary to human dignity'."
Project Picture:

Prompt: Quote 2
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Doll teal hoodie
Brief Description:  I am a virgo. The most Virgo-y virgo ever. As a result I am super hard on myself and have a hard time going against instructions. It was a very small change to the instructions to add trim, but even when I do things a little bit different I am proud of myself. "You never can cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."
Project Picture:

Prompt: Quote 5
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Flower Child Shirt
Brief Description: "When all the trees are cut down, when all the animals are dead, when all the waters are poisoned, when all the air is unsafe to breath, only then will you discover you cannot eat money"

Prompt: Brave New World
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Pineapple menstrual pads
Brief Description: I made some reusable panty liners a while ago and I thought I would give it another shot with some improvements. I added wings to these ones so that they wouldn't slide around and I used a layer of ZORB between the flannel to make them extra absorbent.

Prompt: March Battle Royale- Catcher in the Rye
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: Brain Power- I learned how to create a pattern from an existing item
Project Name: Miss Cleo's Collar
Brief Description: My friend is a dog groomer and she has two poodles that she uses for grooming competitions. They require a "coat saving collar" that protects their hair from becoming matted and she asked me to make this one for her based on one she had purchased online for her other dog. I asked her which she preferred between Catcher in the Rye and Lord of the Flies and she said CITR, which is also my favourite of the two!
Project Picture:

Prompt: UFO Lubbock Lights
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: +10 Recurring Patter
Project Name: Wave Smocking Plate
Brief Description: Smocking is one of my favourite crafts. Of course, actually incorporating the smocked plates into kid's clothes is not my favourite part. I've decided to submit the plates as one craft (as the take several hours of work) and the finished clothing item as another because I have been smocking my tail off, but likely won't make a finished clothing item for a while since I have no one to give baby clothes too anyway! I created this smocking pattern myself based off of an image I saw on Pinterest.

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: Discussion Thread for Nerd Battles on: March 10, 2017 12:47:11 PM
I just proposed a research project that is a work in progress. Since every row takes at least 20 minutes, I am expecting it to take me over 45 hours total so I'd like to post a progress picture just in case I want to claim those epic points later on. There is a description of how it's made over on the Spring Nerd Battles Board  Smiley It's about 9 inches wide now and I've put about 15 hours into it so far!

Research Project Name: African Flower Afghan
Team: Fandom
Bonus Points: Epic!
Brief Description: I proposed this research project back in August 2015, and what a relief to have it done. Each hexagon took about 45-60 minutes to make, and then I had to go around and attach them all. After all of that, I attached flannel to the back to make it softer and tacked it in place all the way around the blanket. In the end, it made a nice gift for my step-mom, and all of the yarn was gifted to me, so it was a very low-budget project as well!

Research Project Name: Purple Knit Blanket
Team: Fandom
Brief Description:
I have made this style of blanket many times before because they are just plain fun to make! It's very simple. I have two bins of yarn, one with whites and grays and the other with a variety of purples. They are all different textures and weights. I just grab one skein from each bin and hold them together and knit a row. At the beginning and end of the row I leave a 2-3" tail, to make fringe. It creates a really cool textured blanket and it looks really interesting, but it's just garter stitch the whole way. It's great to work on while watching tv. I'm about 8" in, but every row takes 30+mins so I definitely have 3 weeks left of work on it!

Hi everyone!
I missed all of last season but I think I may be able to participate this Spring, at least with a few projects! It looks like a few things have changed though, so I do have a couple quick questions. How do we claim Epic points? are they just bonus points for research projects? How many research projects can we have going at once?
Thanks guys! I'm excited to participate again!

I can't believe this is my first post this season! I obviously have my priorities out of whack considering I haven't been crafting much at all. Also, I can't ever figure out how to get my pictures to face the right way. I hate this weird interface we have Angry Forgive me Friends! I'm not smart or patient enough to figure it out!

Prompt: A la carte
Team: Analog
Medal Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Memorial Pillow
Brief Description: This is a memorial pillow I made for my friend after her grandfather passed away. I wanted to make one out of a button-up, but I was sorta at the mercy of her family members and what they chose to give me in terms of his shirts. This pillow used a flannel and a t-shirt. My friend really appreciated it, which made me happy.

Prompt: From Scratch
Team: Analog
Medal Event: Fabricology
Bonus Points: n/a
Project Name: Piped Wedding Pillow
Brief Description: I made my own piping for this pillow from scratch. It turned out okay considering, but I am sorta embarrassed by how much I messed this pillow up. I literally forgot how to do mitered corners and instead of googling it, I just did it in the most backwards way ever and then had to re-do it all the next morning! Ugh! But the brides liked it so i guess that's all that matters.

Prompt: Pride and prejudice
Team: fandom
Brief description: When my ex moved out she took literally all of the wall art. My house is very sad looking, so I asked my friend Maddie to come over and make some Pinteresty art. Although I am crafty, I am not artistic at all so I tried to pick some simple-looking ideas. This is the first one I actually finished.
