2  Suitcase/Hatbox craft fair setup, now with pictures! in Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs by erindezeeuw on: November 28, 2007 02:45:16 AM
I'm participating in a craft fair this Saturday and Sunday, and I'll add pictures when I'm done, but in case anyone's in the same boat, I decided to share now and add the pictures later.

I'm selling some small items like scarflettes, wristlets, etc. and I've decided to put them in some of my mother's vintage hatboxes as a display. For the gift tags, since there are several different styles, I'll have a suitcase sitting open, and I'm making a cardboard insert for the top half, covering it with fabric or pretty paper, and pinning each style to the cardboard. Each tag will be labeled with a letter, corresponding to an envelope filled with that style, which will be inside the suitcase.

Now with pictures:
(These are two different days at two different locations but you get the idea)

3  hand-tatted lace to wool skirt, lacy top. in Get Product and Website Opinions by erindezeeuw on: November 27, 2007 04:14:57 AM

recently i bought a shoebox full of vintage lace from etsy, as i tend to go through lace quickly. i can't resist putting it on everything i make. in the box was a panel of hand-tatted lace, that's been initialed! if you look closely at the third picture, there's a blue "A" to the right of the pin. does anyone know how old it might be?

anyway, i shortened this wool skirt, added the lace panel (well, it's just pinned right now), and added a TON of lace to the bottom.

it's SUPPOSED to be for sale at the shows i'm doing this weekend (www.dallasindieexperience.com) but i'm not sure i can bear to part with it! i wish it didn't fit me!

someone help me figure out how high i can price it so that it's fair, but still high enough to make sure it goes to someone who REALLY loves it. i'm thinking between 50 and 65 dollars?

(sidenotes: the top in the picture was a high-necked top and i just lowered the neckline. also in the picture with the initial, i messed with the colors so you could see it.)

as usual, the shirt's on the form kind of lopsided so ignore that. and the big shiny circle in the middle of it is one of the dials on the form, not part of the shirt.

4  2 new recons: wool skirt and nightgown in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by erindezeeuw on: November 18, 2007 01:11:41 PM
I ALWAYS FORGET to take before pictures.

I shortened this vintage wool skirt and added the ruffle:

And this was a floor-length nightgown that was gathered under the bodice. I brought the bottom to the top, decided on a pleat instead of the gathers, and added the lace at the shoulders:

5  Secretary Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by erindezeeuw on: October 25, 2007 11:23:18 AM

I shortened this dress, and the neck flap thing, and added lace. I call it my Rosemary dress because of the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Like it?

6  Messenger bag from tweed, tablecloth, lace, etc. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by erindezeeuw on: October 03, 2007 05:57:56 PM
I guess this is a recon since some of it was once a tablecloth. It's definitely one of my favorite things I've made:

9  Scarf to Messenger Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by erindezeeuw on: September 25, 2007 06:35:48 AM
This is one of my favorite things I've ever made! The red and yellow outside print is a scarf from the thrift store, the lining and side panels are just some fabric I got secondhand, and the strap is a TAE KWON DO BELT! Perfect as a messenger bag strap, and I got six of them for $3 at the thrift store!

10  Frumpy to cute! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by erindezeeuw on: September 25, 2007 06:32:27 AM
I always forget to take a before picture. This dress was long, elastic-waisted, and all pale yellow. Now it's this:

Basically, I shortened it and added all the black . . . a ruffle at the bottom, sash over the elastic waist, and fabric-covered buttons at the collar.
