21  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Purple Rose Yarn on: April 06, 2016 04:26:57 PM
I watched a video on You Tube a long time ago where someone spun little rose flowers into their yarn. I looked fun so I decided to try it. Two years after buying all the supplies, I finally got it done.

Here is the fiber after I prepped it. I took various shades of purple merino and some white faux cashmere and blended them on the blending board. The first half I dizzed off, and the second have a tried making hand pulled roving.

Next I took the first set and stripped it down to small pieces and threaded flowers onto it.  Then I spun a single from both sets. Unfortunately, with the first set I couldn't have all the small pieces completely separate and so they stuck back together. I had originally planned on having the flowers spaced evenly, but because of this they got closer together the further into the single I got.

And finally I plied them together.

22  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Vintage Sundress on: April 06, 2016 01:37:20 PM
I noticed that my daughters dresses were getting too short. Unfortunately, most of the dresses in the store are shorter than I would like as well. Especially since she hasn't mastered the art of sitting like a lady in dresses yet.

So the only thing I could do was maker her a dress. I made this back in February from The Vintage Sundress Pattern by Simple Simon and Company. It has since gotten hot, so we are going to need to find a short sleeve shirt to wear under it.

23  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Spam in a Can on: April 01, 2016 07:15:01 AM

SPAM supposedly is an abbreviation of Shoulders of Pork and Ham. So I thought I would show that off visually with a little needlework. My husband thinks it (my hoopla) is gross, but my kids like it.

25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cowboy on: September 26, 2015 10:32:16 PM
A cowboy doll for my nephew for a Christmas present.

Made from a Dolls and Daydreams pattern.
26  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cowgirl on: September 26, 2015 10:27:42 PM
My brother-in-law is kind of a cowboy/farmer. So for my nieces Christmas present this year I made her a cowgirl doll.

She is made from a Dolls and Daydreams pattern and is 19 inches tall.
27  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sleeping Beauty doll on: September 25, 2015 02:39:24 PM
This lovely lady is 21" tall. She is made from the Topsy Turvy Sleeping Beauty pattern by Dolls and Daydreams.

You just flip over the skirt to change which doll you have. She can go to a dance, or she can stay at home and sleep. I made her for my 9 year old daughter for a Christmas present. I just hope she likes her.
28  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Ninja! on: September 25, 2015 02:34:58 PM
I decided to get a head start on Christmas this year. The blue ninja is for my son (blue and red are his favorite colors). The black ninja I made just because and ended up giving it to my friend to use as a birthday present for her son.

They are 19" tall and made from the Dolls and Daydreams Ninja pattern.
29  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Pumpkin Head Doll on: September 07, 2015 09:59:47 AM
The weather is getting cooler and I'm starting to get in the Halloween mood. So I decided to make this little Pumpkin Head doll to go with my decorations.

She is made from the Poppy Poppet pattern by Dolls and Daydreams. I simply used orange fabric for the head, painted on a pumpkin face, and left off the hair. My husband says she is creepy cute. I love her.
30  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Blessing Dress on: September 02, 2015 01:41:33 PM
Earlier this year I found out that my sister-in-law was going to have a little girl. I got super excited because other than me, no one had little girls, only little boys. So I offered to make her blessing dress. The pattern the parents chose was from a little booklet called "Timeless Christening Sets".

Here is the back:

And a closeup of the bodice:

I'm still fairly new to knitting so this was a great learning experience. It also built my confidence a lot. And despite being bored of the pattern by the time I finished the skirt, I've decided I really love to knit.
