11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted Sponges on: October 20, 2016 08:22:21 AM
As a part of a wedding gift for my brother-in-law I crocheted some sponges.

The pattern for the sponges can be found here at Book People Studio.
12  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Black and Red Wedding Gift Towels on: October 20, 2016 08:19:12 AM
My brother-in-law is getting married November 5th and I decided for his wedding gift I was going to make some hand woven dishtowels.  His fiance's favorite color is black and based on their wedding registry they are going with a black, red, and white theme for the entire house.

I had originally planned on making a set of 2 black dominant and a set of 2 red dominant towels, but after finishing the first set, I decided they only get 2 towels. But I did make 2 crocheted sponges to go with them.

And the weaving details:
  • Made on my 20" Schacht Flip Rigid Heddle Loom
  • Used 10 dent heddle
  • Doubled the warp but not the weft
  • Used 8/2 unmercerized cotton in black, red, and white
13  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Practice Towels on: October 05, 2016 07:25:07 AM
As an early birthday present I got a rigid heddle loom. So I decided to make kitchen towels to practice weaving.

These are made with 8/2 unmercerized cotton. I doubled the warp, but used a single strand for the weft.  I really loved how they turned out. Now I need to warp up some more.

And here is the loom all warped up before I started weaving.
14  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Lots of yarn on: October 05, 2016 07:20:19 AM
I've been spinning a lot more lately, but I haven't been very good about posting my finished (almost I still need to set the twist) yarns.  I spin just to spin, so I haven't bothered with counting the yardage on any of these. (All of these have been spun since the end of August.)

Neon 3-ply.

Mini skeins of chain-plied mawata.

Yellow and green 2-ply made from some hand pulled nests I made back in 2014.

An ombre yarn. This one is merino, tencel, and Peruvian highland wool. It is a 2-ply from center pull balls.

And another 2 ply.
15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / It's Dangerous To Go Alone on: September 28, 2016 10:33:00 AM

I made this for my husbands birthday. The pattern is from StitchLine on Etsy. When I saw it I knew it was perfect. My husband loves The Legend of Zelda video game series and often quotes "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this."

I've been working on it off and on since May, and just finished this a week ago. I could have been finished a lot sooner, but I can only take so much cross stitch before needing a break.
16  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fiber Swap on: July 21, 2016 09:28:50 AM
It's been quite a while since our last fiber swap. Is anyone up for another?

I was thinking we could have the requirements be similar to last time. 4 oz of fiber prepared in some way by you (dyed, carded, hand combed etc.)

I was also thinking it might be fun to have a small twist. We could send our partners a few pictures that we like and what they send (color-wise etc.)would be inspired by that.
17  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Lamb, Owl, and Bunny on: June 17, 2016 10:42:40 AM

I made these awhile ago intending them to be party favors for my daughter's birthday party. She was going to have a shabby chic tea party. However, she changed her mind on what type of party she wanted before I even had them finished. I finished them anyway and all have since found a new purpose.

The lamb was given to my niece for her first birthday party. I let my daughter choose between the bunny and the lamb on which one to give her. She decided that since she loved pink so much her cousin must love pink as well. So she got the lamb.

My daughter decided to keep the bunny for herself. She named her Rose.

The owl, I decided to keep. She is currently on a shelf in my craft area.

They were all made from Dolls and Daydreams sewing patterns and can be found here.
18  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pink and Black Paris Doll on: April 26, 2016 12:02:04 PM
I made this doll for my daughter from left over fabric from a dress I had also made her. She loves the color pink, so of course the doll had to have pink hair. She is based off of Dolls and Daydreams Schoolgirl pattern, but I modified the hairline and changed up the outfit.

My daughter is a super creative moment named her Dolly.  Wink
19  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pink and Black Paris Dress on: April 26, 2016 11:56:55 AM

I made this dress for my daughter using Little Lizard King's Aria's Ruffle Dress pattern.  I wanted it to be longer than the pattern called for, but accidently added too much length. It goes down to her ankles.

You can't tell from the picture but the buttons down the front are little pink roses that I found in a jar of old buttons my mother had given me.

When I was finished, I had a bit of fabric left over, so I decided to make her a matching doll.

20  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Pig Jumper on: April 26, 2016 11:51:36 AM

I made this Pig Jumper from the Ani-Mazing Suspender Skirt pattern by Little Lizard King, for my 4 year old daughter who is obsessed with pigs. The pattern didn't include a pig face so I based it off of a doll that I also made for my daughter.
