1  bee sweater!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: February 13, 2014 01:37:25 PM
i named this sweater "the dream sweater" because it is made with very soft cashmere/merino blends and i've been conceptualizing it in my head for months. i used this sweater generator: http://prjonamunstur.is/#/Design i got the charts from this awesome baby sweater, which is my ultimate inspiration: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-bees-knees when i saw it i immediately started visualizing gold bees on an adult-sized sweater.

and here's the sweater on its own!

it took me about three weeks and i just got finished! it came at a perfect time because it just snowed a ton in georgia.

2  herbal healing embroidered sweater in Needlework: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: November 07, 2013 10:34:06 AM
i have been working all week on this sweater and i'm finally done! i was trying to think of something autumny to put on it and then i decided: medicinal herbs!

from left to right (and top to bottom) they herbs i included are: garlic, yarrow, elderberry, ginger, black cohosh, lavender, sage, cinnamon, valerian root, and holy basil.

here are some closeups of my favorites:

3  little girls' christmas dress to lolita skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by katydidnot on: October 28, 2013 01:09:00 PM
i found the most adorable dress at the thrift store for $3. it was made for little kids and i was super bummed but i figured it was gathered so much that i could make a skirt out of it, and i was right! i'm wearing a supplementary petticoat in these pictures but it does have a little built in one!

here's the finished skirt:

i was originally planning on plain red jersey knit fabric for the waistband but i got really inspired at like midnight to make this and i didn't have any, so i used this little kids fabric i have. i think it came out better!

some bottom of skirt detail

here's a kind of crappy picture of what it looked like before:

i'm going to use the extra fabric to make a bunch of huge bows for it but i haven't gotten around to it yet.

4  dorothy parker sweater!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: February 17, 2012 10:40:01 AM
so i have been making a ridiculous number of hats (see http://katydidhats.tumblr.com/) and i mean a ridiculous number, like 28 and a half. (exact number) so i had created enough that i had at least a sweater's worth of hats, which made me think i should just make a sweater. i was unsure about what to put on it, but finally i settled on a poem by my favorite poet, dorothy parker.

the poem i used was "anecdote":

So silent I when Love was by
He yawned, and turned away;
But Sorrow clings to my apron-strings,
I have so much to say.

here is my sweater!

here are some action shots:

(i also made that hat, but that is a post for another time!)

i want to take a picture of all of the knitting i have created since about the end of december (which is 28 1/2 hats, one sweater, and three gloves) but i have yet to. maybe this picture is forthcoming!

5  i made this hat, and it says kittens. in Knitting: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: January 30, 2012 02:04:43 PM
in addition to a bunch of radical feminist/political hats i've been making, i made one that says kittens, because.

i made the charm with clay and painted it! i've been making a few like this--the other ones are female signs and teapots.

wearin' it.

6  smash the patriarchy hats! (img heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: January 17, 2012 10:57:47 AM
so i've been getting real into ~radical feminist knitting~ recently and here's the results!

the art in the background is a comic by my friend dena zilber!

i'm working on another one with hearts instead of female signs right now.

7  female sign hats! (picture heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by katydidnot on: December 29, 2011 02:30:31 PM
so i have been extremely busy on my knitting recently, and have produced a great quantity of hats.

i think this one is my favorite.

i also convinced my boyfriend daniel to be a hat model. i think he did an admirable job.

i like how the darker lady sign hats came out better, but i still like these ones!

anyways yeah. hopefully i'll have a ton more soon too!

8  five sheets into a dress! (lotsa pics) in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by katydidnot on: September 03, 2011 02:18:38 PM
so my friends had a craft party last night, and there were a bunch of different kinds of sheets from an earlier fort party! i took a ton of them and made a dress. the top part is made from a pillowcase, and i took the elastic from a fitted sheet.

here i am modeling the finished product.

this is my "IT HAS POCKETS" demonstration.

here is a lovely picture of my friend martin modeling it.

a back view, also provided by martin.

three AM waffle house action shot.

finally, a closeup shot i took when i later got home to my attic.

9  Re: postcards i have made (billions of images!) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by katydidnot on: August 03, 2010 02:02:03 PM
thanks everyone! i just made a ton more yesterday/today:

this one and all the others with similar background come from my notes on ts eliot's the waste land. i took some crazy intense notes and thus have been keeping them all summer for potential art projects.

and this background is from a map of the london underground i've mysteriously been keeping around since 2006...

and in case you are curious, here is the stamp on the back:

10  postcards i have made (now with double the postcards!) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by katydidnot on: July 31, 2010 06:43:42 PM
so i made a ton of postcards with the aid of several old oprah magazines (and a vogue or two) and i thought you might like to see!

that is a lot of pictures! maybe not a billion as i previously claimed, but a little exaggeration is no big deal. collages are awesome and i might make some more postcards pretty soon because it is so much fun. (and i have new magazines!) also you can't see but they have an awesome postcard stamp on the back as well.
