There are two bead stores on St Denis, just north of Sherbrooke metro station (One is called Bedz, I think, and the other one I don't know, I just remember thinking "there's ANOTHER bead store on this stretch?!).

People will likely sigh and lament the closing the Bead Emporium, a bead store that had been in Westmount for ever and ever and ever and ever and just closed recently because of the recession, etc.

Tip for looking in Montreal: they're called perles in French.

I think you're talking about Coeur des Nations (Heart of the Nations) which is a church-based thrift shop specifically to serve the disadvantaged population.  I've never been in, but since they are very focused on refugees, they're probably pretty good all around, except for the weird-ass hours.

I'd be interested in starting a blog not unlike the Toronto Craft Alert for Montreal (craft fair and crafty meetup info - possibly listing church bazars and whatnot), but would like to get some feedback and maybe someone else interested in working on it with me.

Send me a message if you'd be into it!!

it looked to me like the officiant was a rabbit.

I know that was a typo but it made me laugh so hard!!

Hmmm... is it safe to give dogs raw meat??? Did the boiling the chicken cook it well enough???

Very fresh frozen raw meat, and fresh raw meat are absolutely not a problem for dogs at all.  It's what they would eat if they were in a position of catching their own food. (caveats: all dogs are different, and I am not a vet).  Some animal nutritionist would even recommend it like that - you can read up on B.A.R.F. diets for dogs (Bones And Raw Food).

That looks like so much fun!! I totally dig your table numbers (I <3 trivial pursuit), and if you were really geeks, then one of them must have been Nurse Chapel Wink

Joking aside, I love your carafes, and if you say etching is easy, I'll add it to the list of projects to try at some point.

Congrats, too!
18  CANADA / Quebec / Where's the cheapest... ? on: July 08, 2009 08:06:12 PM
Here's a thread to post for sales & bargains and to share finds for cheap(er) crafting supplies.  I'm looking for cheap polar fleece - I figure if it's ever going to be on sale, it'll be on sale in July.

That's great!  I'm planning to make something similar for the Groucho basset.  Do you find that it fall to the side at all?  I'm thinking about some sort of belly strap to keep it centred so he doesn't end up tripping over it - he is a little low to the ground.
20  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Knit-a-long : Afghan :) on: June 09, 2009 08:19:36 AM
