I'm in love with that little bird. So cute! Your magnet closure solution is genius and perfect for a bag little girls will be handling often. I'm sure they'll adore them!

That is so cute! The closure is my favorite part, it reminds me of a tie. I haven't made an entire bag from scratch yet, so - at 2 bags - you're already way ahead of me! Did you use a pattern or just make it up as you went along?

Your blanket stitch is neater than mine! I really like that you used the blue thread on the orange and vice-versa. I love that color combination.
224  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Aqua Teen Xstitch Force! on: December 21, 2008 04:21:40 PM
My boyfriend is a huge Adult Swim fan. So, as part of my crafty Christmas, I found this awesome cross stitch pattern and decided to stitch it up for him. I did it exactly the same way - 16 count Aida, 2 strands. The only change I would make to the patterns would be Meatwad's eyes and teeth should be white. If I had been paying attention, I would have caught it before I made them brown and had to sew over!

When they were done, I washed, ironed, and mounted them on self-stick board for posterity and placed them inside a nifty collage frame (the openings are 4 x 6 in the one I used). I think it's hilarious, because the frame looks so formal and serious. Maybe I should do an black velvet painting of Carl next...
225  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute-a-ccino Canvas Tote on: December 21, 2008 03:48:05 PM
I bought a pack of plain white canvas totes to line and decorate for a friend and some of my son's teachers for Christmas. I knew immediately what I wanted to put on my friend's tote - a frappuccino. Starbucks is our home away from work and she's listened to me complain over coffee more often than I want to admit. Onto the bag!

First, I used round sponge painters to add pink and green polka dots in fabric paint on both sides.

Then I made a paper pattern for the felt applique and used it to cut out felt pieces, which I glued on. I had never used fabric glue before ... so the face/circle part is really stiff! Cheesy I used a blanket stitch over most of the pieces, which didn't turn out so bad considering I hadn't done that stitch since junior high.

Finally, I sewed a lining out of a pretty pink/flowery fabric I got in quarters. I added a cell phone pocket on one side and a squarish pocket on the other side. The bottom of the canvas bag is square, but I made my lining with only two pieces. It bunches up a little in the bottom, but it works.

Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out! I hope she likes it.

I've seen that shirt. Wink I think it's just begging for some mis-colored flowers. Also, I'm suddenly inspired to turn one of these into a cross stitch.

Cuppie cakes! Those are so adorable. I've seen pin-on buttons with cross stitch, but not buttons like these. Think of the possibilities! They would be great on children's clothes, but I secretly want to keep them for myself.

Awesome! I actually like the decepticon logo that way - it's almost pointillistic. Wink
229  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Cupcake scarf on: December 09, 2008 06:18:11 PM
I am so in love with this scarf, I'm making my first post. Smiley I haven't crocheted since junior high (!), but I am seriously eyeing the hooks again due to things like this scarf and some of the amigurumi I've seen here.

Cupcakes are so awesome. Crocheted cupcakes even more so.
