91  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Two teeny tiny baby penguins on: February 06, 2012 07:26:13 PM
I needle felted these little guys thinking I could use them, but I made them smaller than I intended.... they each fit on a penny for size reference. Perhaps they will become tiny charms later.

92  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Mini mushroom terrarium on: February 05, 2012 10:53:21 AM
This is my third miniature toadstool terrarium. This time I did two smaller mushrooms instead of one.

93  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Baby penguin - needle felted sculpture on: February 03, 2012 10:25:34 AM
Another little birdy in my collection of needle felted friends. This time a baby penguin. He's a little less than 5 inches tall.

I kinda preferred the more colorful birds, but he was pretty fun to make anyways. Not sure what I will make next though.
94  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Mr. Blue Bird on my Shoulder :) on: February 02, 2012 07:23:54 PM
Another felted bird. This one has a bit of a belly, shorter legs, and vintage buttons for eyes. I think I am on a roll with these guys. Smiley

95  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Little Green Canary - wool felted creature on: February 02, 2012 06:32:36 AM
For some reason I decided to make a very long legged bird, and there wasn't really any plans for where I was going. I'm pretty happy with how he came out, and I've been working on a couple more birds in this style Smiley

96  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Little fox - felted wool creature on: February 01, 2012 01:52:01 PM
I think I am going to have to make a whole set of woodland friends to go with this guy. He was the first felted thing I made outside of balls. I just made him a couple weeks ago, but I feel like my skill level has already improved, so I may soon have an army of foxes to get even better. I used three shades of orange to make his coat, but it is kinda difficult to tell from these photos...

97  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Miniature Toadstool Terrariums on: January 31, 2012 07:22:23 PM
I've really fallen in love with felting. I made these two little mushroom terrariums in locking jars over the last couple of days. The jars are less than 1.5 inches tall. I had a lot of fun with them, and I think I will have to find myself some more jars and make a load of them Smiley

98  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Wool Owl Charm on: January 23, 2012 07:29:37 PM
I've been experimenting with wool. Here is a tiny owl charm that I will put on a necklace later Smiley I ran out of natural colors, so I used a bunch of bright ones!

I need to work on those stray strands some, but I like the feel of the needle felted items better than my wet felted ones...
99  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Wool Toadstool Thing on: January 23, 2012 07:16:19 PM
I've been admiring several people's felting work, and thought I would expand on my previous wool experience. This is the first piece I have made involving more than just balls for acorns. It is also the first time that I have used any kind of embroidery technique. I used French knots for the spots on the red mushroom, but everything else is wool.

I made an extra mushroom that didn't fit, so now I can use it for another project Smiley

100  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Firefly Serenity necklace (with leaf backside) on: January 09, 2012 04:54:34 PM
My cousin and I did a little craft exchange for Christmas this year. She is a big fan of the tv show Firefly, so when given the option of choosing anything for me to make her, she asked for the Serenity logo. I felt like the small logo wasn't much, so instead of putting it on a chain, I beaded a cable with copper and yellow colored beads and added a leaf to the backside so that it can be worn both ways.

The medallion is polymer clay painted with acrylics... the beads are on a flexible jewelry cable...

And an extra picture to show the length:

In return she sent me a super awesome 1.5"x2" painting of the Tim Burton Alice with an easel included Smiley
