1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help! Yarn substitute for Hot Head Beanie? on: January 13, 2005 04:45:25 PM
i'm knitting that same hat right now, and i couldn't find that kind of yarn, or any other bulky yarn i liked. I ended up just using a worsted weight yarn.. it is going to be a bit smaller and 'lacier' but it looks really good so far. it is my first decreasing project too..
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Princess skirt for my niece on: December 31, 2004 11:52:28 PM
i have made a bunch of these for my daughter, and i have found that she won't wear them if i make the waistband out of tulle. i started making them with satin waistbands- just a satin casing with the tulle stitched to the inside.. i'm not sure if that makes sense, but now she wears them all the time, and i have sold a bunch of them...

this might sound kinda mean, but i promise its just an observation... you don't want to give out your pattern or a tutorial  for this project because of your business, but i can see from your website that you have used other people's tutorials to make and sell stuff... like the hobo jordy... i think that if you want to be fair you should look at that...

i think the clutch is real cute by the way...

you should test the buttonhole size on scrap first, then see if the button will fit through. i do this for every buttonhole, and i have been sewing for a while. also, go over the buttonhole twice. i mean, sew it twice. if that makes sense. it makes the hole less likely to tear.

or maybe if you make the stitch wider... im not sure what kind of machine you are using, but on mine, if you make the stitch wider, the hole in the middle is wider...
