1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Assemblage Art Swap 2 Gallery on: April 14, 2017 01:59:41 PM
My daughter's high school's mascot was a snail. School cheer--Let's go, Escargot!  Not kidding. But I do agree with the others, I immediately thought of a snail slowly accumulating flotsam on his sticky way. I never would have thought of that, but I love it.

I will admit that I didn't understand at first about the cubbies in the swap thread, CraftyLittleMonkey. Now I get it. Now I want some.

I love that tiny steampunk birdie. Birdies plus Steampunk=love.

Be prepared for lots of pictures, because there is a lot to see in this Sea Serpent ship I received from StudioANF. This ship is big and full of assembled goodness. This is what I came home to on my stoop.

Here is the full view of the ship. I am not sure how the body is constructed but it looks to be stiffened paper or fabric covered in "scales" made from maps.

It is guided by two golden, sparking fish. They are covered in gold scales with small crystals and stiffened lace fins and tails (I love these fish!).

The eyes are most amazing. She made wire bezels to hold the jewel eyes in place over two tiers of gears. I love the steampunk look of them.

Here is a view of the inside. A very cool gold, wood grain texture for the deck. And, individually floss-wrapped masts holding paper sails. Each in sea-worthy colors. I love the fan shaped sail.

You can see the detail of the ship's map scales here. They really evoke motion.

And here is one more full view to enjoy. (Sorry, I can't get some of the pics to post correctly.)

It is "rigged" to hang as well as stand, so I plan to hang it in my craft room. It's lovely, StudioANF, thank you so much for swapping with me and making me something so awesome.

Cookie is amazeballs. I am dying to know about her nose!!
I love the spoon arm and the earrings rock so hard it hurts.

Cookie's head, and therefore her nose, is a vintage biscuit cutter. Her nose is the handle. Inside the cutter there is usually a removable ring that lets you cut out doughnuts with a hole in the center.

Hmm, so you are only working half days, right?

Just kidding, sounds like you have a long haul ahead of you. I am sure your assemblage will be well worth waiting for.

I never look at the gallery until I finish. I don't need any more swap anxiety.
Now I can enjoy both of these lovely projects. Such different interpretations already.

I should  be finished in time for send-outs. I always spend most of the crafting time stalking, thinking,  sketching, and pulling out all manner supplies and materials, then work to the deadline. I get nothing done if I don't have a deadline  Roll Eyes

I for one enjoy the challenges of working within my partner's constraints, so I would be okay your request.  I made steampunk assemblage items for my partner's bathroom in a "Steampunk for the Home" swap a while ago and I really got into it.

I haven't participated in a swap for months but I have been looking for one like this lately. I am in and will do my questionnaire tonight. Can't wait to begin. I loved the last one.
