26  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: I made... well a piggy tribute on: November 11, 2008 07:34:39 AM
The little rubber pigs are thrown like dice, the two of them thrown at the same time, often bouncing irregularly, skittering across the table. Most of the times they fall on their sides, but they CAN fall (and stay balanced) on their backs, on their noses, on their ears. Extra points are awarded for the rarer positions, and when it is your turn, you keep throwing until you voluntarily choose to stop and hold on to the points you've amassed in your turn, OR you throw a certain combination of pig poses, in which case you lose your points for that turn and you MUST pass the pigs to the next person, for THEIR turn.

The trick is to choose to stop before you throw the bad combo, and so amass a decent amount of points, over several turns. The first one to 100 points wins. Oh, and if you throw the pigs such that they are touching each other when they come to a stop, you lose ALL your points and must start again!

It's a good exercise in probability, and Math Teachers often introduce the game to their classes, for practice in addition, but it's really FUN, too, and you can carry on a conversation while playing, so it's good for multiple generations at the same time.

thanks for that...i was complete in the dark before lol  Smiley
