I agree with the not keeping in the fridge... they loose their chewiness and become kind of gritty.
I actually prefer warm (not hot or you can't suck the bubbles through the straw, it's not as much fun) bubble teas, which is weird because I'm not a fan of hot beverages.

I like to make flavoured simple syrups - my favourite is ginger - to add to the teas. I keep them in the fridge and just add some milk and some syrup, depending on how I'm feeling. The more concentrated the syrup, the less 'sugar' you'll be adding to your beverage because you won't need to add as much syrup to get the flavour.

Smoothies are great too.
Lattes, hot or cold. Coffee is good, chai is incredible.
Hot or frozen hot chocolate.
You can also puree some fruit and mix it in.
Spiced apple cider is divine.
Plain black tea with honey and lemon.
Play around with different kinds of tea, herbal ones too.
Matcha powder is a lot of fun to experiment with.
You can add the boba to cocktails too.

You can try subbing the milk for coconut, evaporated, condensed, almond, soy, or rice milks. Try dairy or non-dairy flavoured coffee creamers.
Strawberry soymilk with pureed fresh or frozen strawberries and some green tea is delish.

For the avocado, what I would do is throw some matcha with milk, the avocado, some honey and lime juice and whir it in the blender. It probably wouldn't taste anything like the one you're used to, but it would be incredibly yummy.

You can add the bubbles to pretty much anything. It doesn't have to be a milk tea or even tea at all.
I personally don't like the powders because they are overly sweet and taste like chemicals.

The best recipe I've tried is undeniably this Thai Mango-Coconut Bubble Tea.

Another fun idea is to mix in some blueberries with the bubbles! Check out this Holiday Red White Blueberry Bubble Tea.

I never make the bubbles ahead of time (an hour or two is okay though, just set aside, in the water in which they boiled).
A small handful is a decent portion for 1 - they are incredibly filling.

This stuff is sooo yummy, good for you, easy, only dirties one pot, and is ready in 15 minutes!

You'll need:
  • 1 cup of elbow pasta (preferably whole-wheat)
  • 1/2 cup of grated cheese (preferably something strong like sharp cheddar or Gouda)
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • 10 black olives (good quality, ex: Kalamata), pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup fat-free plain yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp Dijon or old-fashioned mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • fresh cracked black pepper (optional)
  • green onions, chopped (optional)

1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain, rinse, and set aside.
2. In the meantime, whisk together all the remaining ingredients (except the pepper and green onions).
3. Pour into the pot in which you cooked the pasta and cook on med-low heat, stirring frequently, until and the cheese is melted and it starts to bubble.
4. While the sauce is cooking, heat some boiling water. Pour onto the pasta to reheat.
5. Combine sauce and pasta and voil! Top with fresh-cracked black pepper and green onions if desired.

Yours are almost done... I've discovered I'm quite slow at making these! One patch takes me, on average, 2-3 evenings to embellish but I think/hope it's worth it!
