Ohnoes!!  sounds like you're having a rough go of it!!   well at least most of it will be eaten (even if the cat got some!)  and there is always try again once you find lard/shortening!  And there you go, something new again.. who knew margerine wouldn't work either... well, not me anyway..   And here I am wanting to go to school to be a chef, and most specificaly pastry/baker...... I guess thats what school is for though right? LOL  I hope your day gets better!

CatieLove, what's your variation?

Glad you caught that bit before you used oil.... I'm no chef, and know very little about the difference in the fat, so I just assumed that oil would work the same, since the lard/shortening/whatev is liquified...  I guess I'm wrong... But that's okay, Learn something new everyday!

I forgot to mention the pin cushion is attached..... My husband liked that  the most.  No chance of the pincushion hitting the floor and being steped on >.<  LOL

I got the go ahead!
this is the last swap I do in a while though... I don't think I'll be so lucky to get that kind of time again for a while.....
Thread catcher at the sewing machine:

Back side of the catcher over the side of the chair (it looks the same as at the sewing machine on the chair on the front, so I figured it needed only one pic)  Like my sexy wall paper and chair in the basement? very 70's..... its chic  Tongue

and the reverse side (or is this the back side and the flowered bit something else??  my brain is fried today) I love this fabric... so glad to have it in pink so I can make another one of these for me!!

Can't wait to get who this is going to, I'll be adding some treats, and maybe just maybe a surprise crafty item....

yes shortening is lard.. I just checked on Wikipedia. "Shortening is fat or lard from an animal or vegetable." the word Shortening apparently is an interchangable word for lard, butter and margarine.    I have no idea wether oil will actually work, though I imagine the texture of the oil will change the texture of the dough, which may not be a bad thing... The shortening is melted in this recipe, making it oil-like...... Not sure how  it would change it....
