411  Re: Monokuro Boo - black and white piggies *With patterns* in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Belladune on: May 12, 2009 08:21:14 AM
I made one!  He's so cute!  My friend is absolutely going to love him!  I''m sure she doesn't know who monokuro Boo is,  But she has probably close to 200+ piggy figurines in her house!  One more cute amigurumi piggy is definitely going to fit into her collection!

Thank you so much Wayuki for the pattern!!

BentoBox, its not as confusing as it sounds, clarifications are on page 3!

412  Mothers day carrot cake in Dessert by Belladune on: May 09, 2009 07:12:25 PM
So, with my search for different types of rolled icing (as a request from a friend who didn't like the marshmallow fondant, she wants me to decorate her cakes from now on LOL)   I found this recipe:  http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-7060-6-Cream-Cheese-base-fondant.html
What better cake to try it on then a carrot cake.  And of course I need an excuse to make a cake.  And with Mothers day being tomorrow it was a great one!

close up of the carrots, do the greens look realistic enough?  or do they at least get the point across?

top view.  Doesn't look to bad here.

On this one you can see this fondant cracks easily.  Thats okay for now.  Just more practice with it I think.

As for flavor and texture, the icing is pretty tasty, though next time I skip out on the almond extract.  I've never had luck with that extract, it always tastes weird to me.   It also has a nicer texture then the MMF (which is chewy)  Kind of melt in your mouth~ish.  Lets hope the MIL likes it too, since the cake is technically for her!

comments and criticism welcome, I'm always looking to improve!
thanks for looking!

413  Re: Fiber Friday 5.8.09 @#$%*! in Spinning: Completed Projects by Belladune on: May 08, 2009 08:17:03 AM
omg Oddacity,  wow.  thats a gorgeous color!!

this yarn is now the best yarn I have made to date.  I'm sooooooo proud of it.  I thought about calling it hoarfrost, but then it doesn't have any sparkle other then the beads on the thread.  so I'm just going with Winter Morning.   It is 80%angora and 20% merino Lamb.  Its ridiculously soft.  116yards, 2oz.  I've got another 2oz single on the bobbin that will be turned into this too,  just need to find those beads again... LOL  Anyway, on with the picture!

It can be yarn cowl!

And these are some I did a while back but didn't take pics of until now. (not the best pic but oh well.)  They are lace/fingering weight, BFL,  one is 3 ply, one is 2 ply and then the left over single

I do have another, but it is for a swap, and I have a feeling that scotskipper checks this thread out every week, so I'll wait until she receives.

anyway happy fiber friday.

414  Wall-e Part-e- ;) Lots of pictures! in Party Planning by Belladune on: May 02, 2009 02:24:53 PM
Okay, so here it is, all the Wall-e goodness!  My husband thinks I'm nuts to do all this, but really, it was fun!

Any idea how hard it is to be the photographer AND the organizer?  Really hard, or at least I haven't mastered the balance yet,  But here are the few pictures I was able to snap of the crafty goodness I created for this special occasion!

First off, we have the "Place the plant in the Hollow Detector" game.  Amazingly, 5 of the 7 managed to do it blindfolded.....

Up next was the pinata, with pull strings, which didn't work all to well anyway..........  We ended up having to break it with our hands, which didn't matter to the kids, because they got the goodies from it anyway.  Also, i've learned that if you do this rushed, put a fan to the balloon It dries pretty quickly that way.

Of course, Le piece de resistance, the Cake!

Thank you to Nikimac, for your help with the itinerary and the idea for the pinata!

415  Wall-e Birthday cake in Dessert by Belladune on: May 01, 2009 12:39:38 PM
My son is turning 4.  He LOVES Wall-e, ask to watch it every day. His party is tomorrow, so I spent the better part of this morning decorating his cake.  I thought about making Wall-e himself, in 3-D but that seemed fairly daunting(keeping his eyes from falling off? yeah to scary LOL).  So I went with something I felt was more simple, maybe more detailed but simpler.

Anyway,here are the pics
top shot (yes I noticed the oops in the left bottom corner, but to late to fix it.)

I couldn't just decorate the top, so the leaves went over the side!

Close up of the trunk/wall-e (with his cockroach friend) and the leaves.

Also, I'll be posting the whole party on sunday, because this cake is just the start of what I've done for this party, and I felt like it deserved its own post! LOL

418  Foot pin cushion. Hilarious back story included! pic chubby in Felting: Completed Projects by Belladune on: April 18, 2009 10:06:40 PM
Once upon a time lived a crafty maven.  She shared an apartment with her beau.  This lovely young man put up with all the clutter craftiness brought, with very little complaint.  Until one day tragedy struck!  A pin cushion had fallen off the table and onto the floor. ~~ Now this pin cushion was poorly designed, as it was terribly thin, and both sides were mere cloth.~~  The Mavens beau walked past the table and stepped on the pincushion!  He fell to the ground, crying out in agony!  The Maven rushed to his side and tried to remove the mass of pins from his foot.  But alas, she failed.  With a second attempt the pins came free, though the young man was still terribly upset.  The young man did come to forgive the Maven.  And they lived happily ever after.

Now thats a true story.  And it lead to the crafting of this:
Note the hairy toes, and foot-

Side view, complete with pins

Front view

and how it is to be used, pins go in the bottom!

enjoy.  I hope it brings you as many chuckles as it did me!

This is just a simple BFL single, plied with an alpaca single.  only 30 yards...

420  chicky family portrait in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Belladune on: April 13, 2009 08:20:24 AM
So I saw this post, by Wayuki: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=298179.0
And I just knew I had to make a ton of these chickies for my family.   Its a good thing I have a relatively small family.  LOL  And no, they have no eyes, because I didn't have any black embroidery thread, and live in the middle of nowhere, and its not worth a trip to the city for just some black embroidery thread.   And I kind of just gave it a go with the beaks and wings, because when I started, I had no real crochet back ground. I knew how to dc, sc, trc, and that was pretty much it.  The "bobbles"  for the beaks turned out not bobbles. The family members loved them.  and thats all that matters.  Anyway on with the picture:

The blue ones are the men, The pink are the women, Yellow are the kids and the grey ones are the Grandparents.  They are all arranged in families.

thanks for looking! c+c welcome!
