Hope you like them!  Cheesy

222  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / My first needle book! plus bonus on: January 29, 2009 05:31:05 AM
Here's a needle book I made MandyLikesPie. I'm in love with it and must make another for me!

And two felt brooches

223  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Bird wall hanging and Dean martin coasters unite! on: January 28, 2009 05:32:42 PM
Here are a couple of things I made for my recent swap partner MandyLikesPie for the mystery swap version 2.0

I love this image - so simple and clean and yet cute. I did this is Mand's favorite color combo which I can't blame her for liking. The only decent frames I could find were these though. I was hoping to run across some white ones but oh well. The images themselves were cut out of regular paper and were super easy for anyone looking for some way to brighten up a plain wall.

Here's a set of Dean Martin coasters that I made out of ceramic bathroom tiles

They're definitely not perfect but I like the way they turned out for a first try. I covered the images with a layer of resin, which I never tried before and it worked like a charm. The only problem was when I was gluing the felt backing to the tile the glue strings from the hot glue gun stuck to the front. I was able to get most of it off but there are a few strings that are permanently stuck on.
224  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Warning: Poo humor and sexual references *gasp* on: January 27, 2009 07:43:31 AM
I am so proud of myself - usually I never make anything for myself or my boyfriend but I decided since I'm pretty much finished with all the swaps I'm currently in that I should take the time to make a couple of pieces for us to decorate our apartment when we finally move out. That being said, these two stitches I came up with are completely in line with our sense of humor.

The first one is going to be placed above the "throne" in our bathroom. Hehe, it says "Masterfece (n): A particularly large or shapely piece of poop. Ex: 'Did you see what I dropped off earlier today? Man, I tell you what, it was a masterfece.'" I feel the need to point out that we can be very poop-centric in our humor and this captures that quite beautifully  Grin

This one is going in our bedroom I think. He definitely isn't a 10 second man, but this line from the Van Wilder movie is just too hilarious not to put up somewhere. My boy asked me not to show his parents though  Roll Eyes Now that I look at the picture it seems like the frame is ever so slightly too big...I think I made the border too close. Oh well, I guess it'll stay like that until I find a better frame for it then.

This is a card I made for the VD card swap (partner has already received and seen it and loved it  Cheesy). It's rather cute though the robots took a really long time to do - I'm not sure why. The cool thing about it is that I didn't glue down the fabric so the person that received it can remove it for future projects - to make a patch or something with.

This is just a scrap that I was going to make a card with and then ended up leaving out. I'm not sure what I'll do with it now...we'll see.

There's a bunch more stitchery projects to come - I'm just waiting for certain people to receive their stuff before I post - don't want to spoil the surprise  Grin
225  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Favorite quotes swap? on: January 23, 2009 06:40:04 AM
I don't know if this has ever been done but what about a swap based on favorite quotes? There are tons and tons of things being made which have been inspired by favorite one-liners, etc. List your top 5 or 10 quotes and then let your partner's creativity take over

Any takers?
226  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Photo Fat - backlog of my wannabe photographer days on: January 10, 2009 07:25:03 AM
I've been poking around this site for a while and never really got around to posting any pictures I've taken. So why not now  Smiley In all honesty I haven't picked up a camera in months just because I've felt so uninspired but maybe getting back into it through this board will help me.

Anyway, all the b&w pictures were shot and developed by me.

The first two were my first attempt at trying to create a studio type setting. We emptied out one of the rooms in Sof's house, thumb tacked a dark sheet to the wall, and then found some lights that we focused with shades to control the amount of light in the shot, how it hit the model, etc. I think it worked out really well.

The next two were two angles of the EMP building in downtown Seattle. The first one is actually turned on it side and looks like a rolling metallic desert to me.

Please let me know what you think! I'd love feedback on this. My hands are starting to itch for my camera again actually.  Grin
227  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Angel/FOC status on: January 08, 2009 04:02:15 AM
I recently angeled for a swap and thought that after doing so I was supposed to receive FOC status (as I am currently not FOC) but that hasn't happened. Are there certain situations where an angel won't automatically get FOC status or is the process just taking longer than I thought?? To be honest, I angeled more because I missed out on that particular swap and wanted to help the flakee but the perk of FOC status is pretty neat, and I'm wondering how this all works.

Thanks,
sheepBlue
228  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Craftster Edition Magnetic Poetry!!! on: December 31, 2008 05:16:32 PM
I have always loved magnetic poetry - the dirty funny things you can come up with the most random of words...which leads into this project. I'm sure I've seen similar things already on this site but decided for a swap that I had to make a "Craftster" themed magnet poetry set. I was hoping to find the sheets of magnet paper that you can run through your printer but the only kind I found were not printer friendly. I ended up printing out the words on regular paper and then gluing them on top of the magnet sheet and then cutting them out.

Sorry about the not so fab pic; my camera hates me and will either make the picture blurry or too bright.

Hopefully you can make out some of the words: spoil, scissor, loot, wist, once, you, pop, addict, newbie, !, holiday, swap, etc etc etc.

The whole box is filled with words!!! It's Craftster madness  Grin
Comments and crits are welcomed and appreciated!
229  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Snowmen on the fence...or wait, they are the fence! on: December 31, 2008 05:10:48 PM
Here's a cute little ornament I made for koalascout; an ode to her love of snowmen. They aren't actually assembled (I had to mail it in pieces) but this is what it should look like after assembly. You have to love popicle stick crafts! I do! Grin

230  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / !!!cherry blossom and birdy, anatomical heart, science geek love, xmas!!! on: December 30, 2008 06:45:48 AM
Here's a bunch of stuff I've been working on for presents, swaps, etc. I'm excited that they're done...and now I'm looking forward to the next project, hehe.

This is modeled off of kittykill's legendary embroidered heart. I tried using a transfer for the very first time and ended up just trying to follow by looking off the picture. I'm actually surprised it didn't turn out half bad  Cheesy

This next piece is and ode to science love. The DNA borders didn't turn out exactly like I wanted them to but live and learn - I think you can tell what they're supposed to be at least.

The cherry blossom branch with a bird on it was made for a swap and I embroidered on felt. The bird bums me out a little because I tried using a transfer pen that is supposed to rub out when you finish embroidering over the lines but it didn't  Undecided So the bird looks a little dirty to me. Oh well...dirty bird.

The next two are for another swap and were quick and cute. The person I was making stuff for loved snowmen so I did this design on a small towel. Sometimes simple is better than uber complicated  Smiley And the spool tree xstitch I love. I turned that into an ornament...but now I'm thinking making an ornament out of real spools might be even better  Tongue

Please let me know what you think! I thrive on feedback so I can get better.  Grin
