663  Another altered puzzle anyone? in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by sheepBlue on: September 17, 2010 05:09:37 PM
I made another altered puzzle for a personal swap recently which was done in a fairy/woodland theme. It was interesting following a theme this time which really helped to focus my creativity. I think it turned out really cute  Smiley As usual each piece was done individually so there are ones that are upside-down, etc.

These pieces are my favorite  Cheesy

I'd love to hear any comments or crit! Thanks for looking  Smiley

664  Handspun Fiber Log in Completed Projects by sheepBlue on: September 13, 2010 06:00:34 PM
I made this for my good friend freestyle so she could document her process when dyeing her awesome fibers!! I handstamped each page (33 I think - it seemed like a lot more at the time  Cheesy) so each set of pages is an entry. I also made envelopes for each page so she can include samples of the dyed fiber. The handspun used on the cover are all hers which I thought was pretty appropriate.

665  Whimsy Bird Assembly in Completed Projects by sheepBlue on: September 13, 2010 02:19:49 PM
I did another bird embellished with whimsies - I think the canvas is 5x5. The color is a bit more dull grey/blue than bright blue like the camera captured. This one is all mine  Grin

I'd love to hear any comments or crit - I have tons of whimsies and love trying to incorporate them into my art. Thanks for looking!

666  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Swap Gallery (Send-outs Sept 20) in The Swap Gallery by sheepBlue on: September 13, 2010 02:15:42 PM
ok back with pictures!

I mentioned in my questionnaire that I loved oddities, side-show type characters, etc. dharma_rebel totally did it justice and I love my siamese babies!! I have such a hard time drawing human figures so this is amazing to me, and I love the character each child has. Honestly simplicity is the best way to go with this piece, I couldn't imagine anything else that could make it more perfect. The texture of the hair is awesome too! I love that it's not trying to look like hair but the pattern itself is obvious as hair anyway. Thanks so much!!! I love it  Grin

She also stitched up the back too. I feel a little bad for forgetting to do that on mine - next time!

Here's a bad picture of my baby hoopla wall - I'm planning on doing another hoop sometime in the future, no idea what it's going to be yet  Smiley

667  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, 2010 in The Swap Gallery by sheepBlue on: September 09, 2010 05:45:27 PM
I did a personal swap with pops recently and got my awesome package in the mail.

She made me this sweet day of the dead style stuffed skull based off my wist and I love it!!

As well she did an embroidered hoop inspired by the_bees_knees post here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=354500.msg4145141#msg4145141 which I had wisted as well which I am in love with. Im working on building up a hoopla wall and this will be a great addition!

Thanks so much pops!!! I hope you like your package as much as I love mine  Grin

668  Felt hoops, and a little text too in Needlework: Completed Projects by sheepBlue on: September 06, 2010 02:26:59 PM
I made some more hoops recently for swaps, and even one for myself! I find myself being drawn to text and quotes lately and tried to incorporate it a little into one of them.

I made this for a personal thank you gift I sent to a fellow craftster. The hoop itself is rather tiny - 4 inches round I think - but I love how the leaves and details fill it all up.

This one was made for my partner in the current Hoopla swap  Smiley I love the textural quality with the buttons, and I'm much happier with how the mushrooms came out in this verses my previous hoops.

The last one I actually made for myself (which is a miracle because I hardly ever make things for myself). I borrowed the idea from a neat embroidered hoop I found on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammysage/4640391594/in/pool-54791047@N00/  putting my own style on it with the felt bits and detailing. I feel like the little boy looks kinda sad though...oh well. I still think it's super cute. It feels slightly unfinished but I'm not sure what else I'd add to it. Maybe some embroidery around the frame to give it a pop of color?

Love to hear what you guys think!

669  sheepBlue's ATC gallery ?? We'll see if I can keep it up in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by sheepBlue on: September 05, 2010 05:45:47 AM
Here's a few cards I did recently for a thank you package. I love them because I was able to cut apart some prints and designs I made from my printmaking and drawing classes to incorporate into the design and I really like how they turned out.

670  Re: Embroidery Hoopla Swap Gallery (Send-outs Sept 20) in The Swap Gallery by sheepBlue on: September 04, 2010 05:26:13 PM
dharma_rebel asked me to post a picture of the hoop I sent her since she received today and she is a bit busy to post herself right now.

I had a lot of fun making this and have a shared love with dharma for foresty/woodland critters and toadstools  Smiley Of course I couldn't resist using some felt in this.
