Class/Challenge/House Pride: June Detention
Project Name: Cookie Butter Truffles
Brief Description: These truffles taste so evily good that they had to come from a Slytherin  Wink They didn't heat up the kitchen at all because all they needed was a little zap in the microwave wave of the wand to melt the white chocolate. They are made with Biscoff cookie butter thickened with powdered sugar and a little piece of biscoff cookie to add a little crunch. The centers were enrobed in white chocolate with the help of a candy mold, and finally they truffles were dusted with some nutmeg and cinnamon.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Ceramic Punk Plaque
Brief Description: I used the Defodio charm to carve designs into some clay to make this plaque
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Divination
House: Slytherin
Project Name:Texas Diva Ceramic Plaque
Brief Description: I had to use a powerful pyromancy spell to fire the raw clay into a finished ceramic piece. This is also what happens when you give me some clay, some stamps, and a cookie cutter shaped like Texas. It was kind of like that show Chopped where contestants are given some mystery ingredients and then they have to make something delicious out of them. Smiley
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:BEAN challenge: Rotten Eggs
Project Name: Help Me ceramic coaster/art piece
Brief Description: This project fits the rotten eggs bean challenge in more than one way, first of all I had to use the element of fire to create it's solid form, second of all it is made of clay which is the element of earth, and third the clay is made from elements on the periodic table such as:Silicon, Aluminum (found in the compound Bauxite), and carbon. Also the Orange and red stains I used contain Iron.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: BEAN - Onion
Project Name:Layered Vegetarian "Chicken" Nachos
Brief Description: Something I love when I go out to restaurants is some really good fajita nachos, but those are not good for the diet or the wallet, so I made some at home using a chicken alternative called Quorn. There are four layers to these nachos: Chip, beans, Quorn chunk, and cheese. Optionally you can add more layers like taco sauce or sour cream. I added a lot of flavor by sauteing the Quorn pieces in olive oil, lime juice, chili powder, and onion salt. The lime really makes the flavor pop.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Transfiguration
Project Name: Hungarian Horntail Candy Dragon Spikes

Brief Description: The hungarian Horntail is the dragon that Harry ends up fighting in The Goblet of Fire. It is a Brown colored dragon with spike like horns on its head and tail.

These playful pops are a rootbeer reminder of the fierce Hungarian beast. Look for them at honeydukes!

73  Summer Fire Orange Tribal Geometric Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by TechnicolorAquahearts on: June 20, 2013 12:49:40 PM
One of my favorite mediums is Shrinky Dink because there is just so much you can do with it! This is the first time I have made something line and pattern oriented with it. I am pleased with how this project turned out. At first I was going to make more of a bib necklace with a lot more pieces, but the pieces turned out much bigger than I thought so instead of making one big necklace I got four necklaces and 3 pairs of earrings out of it.

74  Pink Cherry Salt Water Taffy in Dessert by TechnicolorAquahearts on: June 19, 2013 02:41:51 PM
I have made taffy several times now and I keep getting better at it. My first attempt was a total failure because it got to hard to pull with in seconds and I had to throw it away. This batch is almost perfect. It is still a little hard, but it softens right up after you have in your mouth for a second. I guess I will keep tweaking until I get the soft taffy that I am dreaming of Smiley but in the mean time I have this yummy batch to tide me over.

75  Peacock Tea Party Cake in Dessert by TechnicolorAquahearts on: June 19, 2013 02:36:12 PM

I made this cake small so it would be a nice center piece for a small tea party or maybe a romantic dinner for two. The peacock is made out of fondant painted with glycerin mixed with Wilton gel colors. I made the white chocolate accent pieces by putting the melted chocolate in a squeeze bottle and drawing them out on wax paper.

Here is a pic of the blue marble effect I got with the fondant I covered the cake with:

Here's a detail shot of the feathers:

And here is the finished cake:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Herbology
Project Name: Cherry Flavored Tremendous Taffy

Brief Description: While tinkering around with my potions cauldron, I was able to wave up a batch of Tremendous Taffies. They are little pieces of candy to keep with you when you are feeling meek and discouraged. Just chew on one of these and you will be feeling tremendous in no time. Of course they are rather bland to the taste so added some cherry extract to liven them up.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
Project Name: Peacock center piece cake
Brief Description: I love decorating cakes and seeing how many creative designs I can come up with, so when I read the Alchemy assignment I immediately pictured a fondant peacock. I made this cake small and square, so it would be a perfect center piece for an intimate tea party or a romantic dinner for two. The cake is pound cake because I thought a denser cake would support the structure of the design. Each feather was individually painted and it took forever. I used melted white chocolate in a squeeze bottle to make the accents.

Here's a pic of the blue marbled fondant that the cake is covered in:

Here is a detail of the tail feathers:

Here is the final cake:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: June Quidditch Challenge
Project Name: Tribal Orange Flame Pendant Necklace
Brief Description:I was having trouble coming up with something orange so I started doodling on some shrinky dink and came up with this. I originally was going to make it with a lot more pieces sort of like a bib necklace but the pieces ended up a lot larger than I thought so I actually ended up with four necklaces and three pairs of earrings!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: House Unity
Project Name: Ravenclaw Friendship Bracelet
I have been trying to learn some more complicated techniques for tying bracelets especially the lettered kind but after completely failing at some of the patterns I wanted to do I decided to start from the beginning and review the basic knots before I worked up to more complicated designs. So here is a basic chevron bracelet in Ravenclaw colors to show that Slytherins can be friendly with other houses.

Project Name: A Penny Jar For MommaAquaheart
Description: I had a really hard time coming up with an idea that uses a jar So my mom told me that she needed a penny jar so I could paint her one. She picked out the colors and told me she wanted flowers and this is what I came up with:

Project Picture:

It was fun doing this craft, It felt like I was in camp again!

Class/Challenge/House Pride:House Pride
Project Name: Slytherin Friendship Bracelet
Brief Description: I used to make friendship bracelets when I was younger and I found the process very zen like, I need some zen so I decided to start making them again. Also it kind of fits the theme of summer camp.

I wanted to post these with my previous post but the pic uploader did something weird  Undecided Anyway, I have been working on an Alchemy OWL forever now and I have floundered around trying to figure out a style for the whole collection of art work so that it would be unified. I came up with some sprite like element babies that I posted pics of last semester and I was happy with those, but then I wandered in the dark for a while coming up with some studies like this:

After doing that kind of thing I finally hit on a direction I am going to stick with stylistically for the series. Here is a peek of what I came up with:

There are many times I thought of abandoning this OWL or pausing it and doing a different OWL and then coming back to this as a NEWT because it has become so much more expansive than I thought it would be, but the whole reason why I proposed this OWL was to practice discipline in following through with projects. so I am sticking to it!

One other note, I apologize that the Professor of Alchemy and DADA has been away from her office for a while, she has been seen by Nurse Pomfrey and has had to rest but she will catch up as soon as possible.
