Hi all!
I belong to a group called SactoMetro, it's a Street Team for Etsy shop owners in the Sacramento area. All you have to do to join is have an active Etsy shop and live in the area. Just go to http://groups.google.com/group/sactometro and request membership.

While the group has been around for a while it kind of went stagnant, but we have flushed the folks who weren't active and are now accepting new blood. We are revitalizing this group. We want to have somewhat regular get-togethers and do some shows as a group as well.

And if you haven't heard of Etsy but want to sell your handmade goodies online you really need to check it out!

If you sell on Etsy you can join the SactoMetro street team. Find them in Google groups.

14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Do you know where this type of ring blank can be purchased in bulk? on: July 30, 2009 08:30:10 PM
I saw this listing from someone in one of my art groups and would love to use the same ring blank but use the materials I work with instead of the ones she works with. I suppose I could just ask her where she gets them, but she does a lot of shows in the same area I do and I'm afraid she would consider me competition, even though my rings would be decorated quite differently than hers. I just don't want any awkwardness between us.
But I'm moving to the other side if the nation in a few months and would never run into her again, so I thought if I can find the supplies, I'll just wait until I move to make my rings in my own way. I just need to find the blanks.
Can you help? http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=27386105
15  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: craft show on: July 30, 2009 08:16:11 PM
It doesn't look like anyone has answered you - that sucks! A juried show for your first one? That's brave! I've been doing shows for years (off & on) and just yesterday was accepted for a juried show!
There is a section here in the community that discusses shows do's and don'ts, don't recall the exact name of the thread but it shouldn't be too hard to find. Look under the heading Crafty Business.

Oh my god, this is creepy! Just seconds before I opened this topic, I was busy laughing at this: http://ihasahotdog.com/2009/05/27/funny-dog-pictures-many-noses/ over at LOLcats... The pictures are almost identical!
OMG - I just spent an hour on that site!!!
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Handmade Bird Swap, Sweat Shoppe Style! -- SEND OUT 4/30 on: May 12, 2009 10:03:26 PM
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous that I couldn't join in the birdie fun. Good thing I backed out though - hubby had a kidney biopsy 2 weeks ago and I've got out-of-town company 2 weeks this month and was injured in a slip-and-fall in March I still haven't totally recovered from. Sometimes Life really sucks. Hope I can get in on the next round!

Sara- so sorry your partner didn't post. Kind of blows the whole swap experience. Seems like every time I forget to take pics before sending I regret it. I've been lucky that my partners have been cool every swap!

I apologize for the curtness of my comments when I posted the pice of the stuff I received from NiinaMaria, life was interupting with hubby's kidney biopsy and then his daughter coming to visit (and now my MIL coming in 2 days).
I want to thank her again - I totally dig the 'WINE' wall art and use my new glasses daily (I'm not as think as you drunk I am). And I love that she used one of the cards she received in this swap on me - nice work Mambosushi!
I'm putting the cork ornaments with my xmas stuff and need to find a spot for the house with the dogwood deco.

Thanks again Niina!

Here's the whole package:

The glasses I got with the gift card she sent me, and my favorite is the 'WINE' wall art!!!

I'll come back to write more about the goodies later, I have out-of-town relatives this weekend and gotta feed 'em.
