Class/Challenge/House Pride: New Year Resolution Challenge
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: More WackoBelle Earrings
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.) My resolution is to start taking my Etsy shop seriously and to branch out to local stores in my area. I have made new earrings and revamped old ones.
Project Picture:
Newest Earrings

Teacups, duckies, arms, Tootsie Rolls, Sharpies, turkey bones, pianted Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds, and grass from my side yard.
Revamping old ones:

Paperclips, golf balls, rabies tags, reconstructed bamboo placemat, flowers in pots, drapery tassels, and dice.
I wear a different pair each evening as I serve food at an assisted living place. The 'old follks' love 'em!

Class/Challenge/House Pride:DADA
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name:not a wall, but pretty close to it...
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I just moved into a place that is fairly run down with former tenants. I am redoing the cupboards. See before and after pics. I have not yet moved my crafts supplies, so had no small brushes for detailing. I did find leftover blue and white paint and a large brush, so painted background white and then used the only possible thing - qtips - available for detailing! I am generally not a polkadot person, but beggars can't be choosers! I went to the dollar store and spent my last buck on the yellow paint. All they had was fabric paint, but hey, it worked!
my camera thingie won't close entirely, thus, the black bits at the edge...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Transfiguration
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: transformed MLP
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques/recipe used, any fun tips, etc.)
Here is a MLP, my first ever. I am not familiar with the originals, so I do not know 'who' it used to be. got it for 25 cents at Goodwill. Months ago, I bought 2 wigs at another thrift shop, knowing I could use 'em some day. One wig - pre-crimped - became the mane, the other is the tail.
This is a Gandalf Murphy pony, based on the lead singer of The Slambovians. I used a picture on their base drum to get every detail correct - the blue blazer, the brown vest with black bits and a white button, the yellow flower on the lapel, the purple skull tie, the crooked black hat, the goatee, the gold earrings, the face paint.
During the shows, they celebrate Gandalf's family history of mumming in the UK, so everyone brings their parasols and dances with them. I transformed a cocktail umbrella, painted it, added a curve at the base using spaghetti (!) and dangled seed beads from the edges for a more festive look.

This is my first  HP post... hope I did it correctly!!

335  Altered My Little Pony for a Christmas gift in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by blupaisan on: January 01, 2014 12:14:20 PM
This is a Slambovian pony, specifically Gandalf Murphy from one of my daughter's favorite bands.  It is my first altered MLP and I really struggled with it, but for a first I think it is ok.
When I took the head off, the inner rubbery ring broke. I tried every glue and trick possible to get the head to stay on. It is like Nearly-Headless-Nick's sidekick at the moment, but my daughter says she has glue that will work on it.
I got a wig for a buck several months ago, knowing I could somehow use it one day. Thus, the hair and tail.
I am a very poor sewer and mechanical designer so I could not figure out how to fashion the clothes without just sewing them right onto the body. It seemed to work anyhow.

Having no money, I could not go out and buy new paint for the body. I went to the dollar store (only place I can afford) and lo and behold there was nail polish in flesh tone. worked great and went on nice and smooth.

I could not for the life of me get the goatee to stay on so I cut a tiny bit of stocking and used that as a buffer. it worked!

The Slambovians have a song where the audience dances around with parasols -some absolutely gigantic - so I had to include one of those!
There is a painting on the band's drum and that is mostly what I used to do this pony.

337  Re: Ongoing ATC swap - November 2013 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: December 27, 2013 06:54:41 AM
It took a bit to arrive, but here is my last Nov ATC from CDEeeek.

Theme is fabric. She read up that one of my fantasies is to have many bolts of gorgeous fabric in a cupboard that I can go look at and drool over - never cut up or use, just for the delight of looking at.
cupboard opens!

What an awesome idea! I am touched that it is so personal.
thank you so much, CDEeeek!!

338  Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 18 - GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: December 26, 2013 08:47:43 AM
Anana was on his second rumball when he went a bit loopy. He could not find a lampshade anywhere to put on his head so he sported this instead.

Then he found a lampshade.

339  Wee winter scene for Mom in Winter Holidays by blupaisan on: December 23, 2013 07:36:07 AM

I used a jelly jar, borax, a fawn I have had for years with embroidery thread, a bit of fake holly and a seed bead at the neck, and rosemary sprigs to create this scene for Mom. She is in a nursing home with very little holiday decorations. Hope she enjoys it!
