21  Re: Curiosity Cabinet Swap Round 2 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by blupaisan on: February 02, 2017 05:50:37 AM
I received from EdelC!
My favorite thing in crafting is to see it all made in miniatures.
Edel truly delivered on that!
Here is the box as it is filled with goodies.

And a more detailed showing-off of each item...

This is a pendant (or could be hung elsewhere) made from a spoon!!! I adore mushrooms which is the main feature here and the other embellishments look really old which I love.

this looks amazingly like a light my great grandfather made. I inherited it years ago and it is one my my prize posessions. I am thinking that here, I am seeing a crystal gazing ball. Adorable!

shrunken heads!!  Have you noticed that all of my curiosities are labeled with info, just as 'real' ones were?
I love the look of this pair.

pardon the foreground thumb.. as ya'll can see it is a bottle full of bones, one of which still has the head attached. Check out the ancient wax sealing at the top, not done to perfection which causes it to appear most realistic!!!

inside this one is a tentacled arm.

the moment I unwrapped this item, I squealed. 'she did it!' I thought. I had a request of a hand or full arm holding something. I am so glad to get this!  Love it!!  It does have a base so that it may be upright, but I am gonna use it at the particular angle.

Hmmmm, wondering what can be inside the container marked HOLD.

Stuff! A plethora of teeny tiny curiosities! All traveling safely as its owner gathered them, in built-in nesting cavities.

Not easy to photograph something this small, but I removed items to show off. Rolled up maps or documentation, three different shaped bottles of goodies. And a twig?wand that due to its solitary nature, must be most important to the original collector.... I am amazed that anyone could properly seal these with twine and wax. they are tiny!!

Edel, I am so happy with everything you made for me. You packed it well, not a single item damaged. I love your creations.
THANK YOU!!

22  Rendering of a pet gecko, collage in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by blupaisan on: January 28, 2017 09:27:07 AM

I wanted to retake the collage class in which I had so much fun last year. By the time I found out when it was taking place, it had already happened.
Welllll, why should this prevent me from doing it on my own at home?

This piece was sooo much fun to make.
I had a time constraint, as I was making it to mail out as a birthday gift.

Here are some process pics....

Canvas was purchased pre-painted at Goodwill. I layered several white acrylics to cover it, then began to apply with glue an inner layer of ripped paper bag to form an oval as a visual niche for the actual animal.

Next were many many bits of paper from a HowTo Calligraphy book. I wanted to use text as a background and was sooooo pleased that I thought to pick up this book in a freebox recently so I had all these gorgeous letterings to use for text, woo hoo!

This was the trickiest bit. I used sheet music as the base for the gecko because it had so many dots (the notes themselves) and this leopard gecko does, too!
I had to carefully piece together tiny pieces to create the shape of the animal. The tiny toes were the most challenging.

Closeup of her after I added watercolor paint.

Her name, showing that it is not just an average lady, but Elizabeth herself. I worked from a pic I found of her.

Shows edges where I also had paper.

signed on the back.

thanks for looking!!!

25  old cat scratching post renewed in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by blupaisan on: January 20, 2017 03:19:41 PM
Here is the post from one of my clients that was headed for the dumpster.

Fairly shredded and well used in all areas.
I took most of it apart, except for the rope which I simply trimmed.
I counted over one hundred (!) staples as I removed them from all carpeted areas!

Here is the redone piece.

I posted a request on Freecycle that I was looking for a sizeable new bit of carpet for this project. I got a huge roll from a nice lady who was excited that it was gonna be used for kitties.

Here is Cirquie checking it out for the first time.

I wanted to put just a bit of oomph to it so added bright red paracord.

thanks for looking!!

26  Mardi Gras Madness! in Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. by blupaisan on: January 18, 2017 08:30:09 AM

Oh. My. Goodness.
I just now came up with this idea and it excites me and I hope others are interested.
This will be a temporary craft! Paint your face in a Mardi Gras theme and post it in the challenge.
Oh, I hope (can you tell I am excited?) this can come to fruition. So much fun to be had!!

27  Logan doesn't know it, but he made my kitty happy with new toys in Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects by blupaisan on: January 16, 2017 02:03:22 PM
The donor, Logan, copious amounts of fur.
A dog I walk two or three times a week.

fur, safely home, and being checked out by my kitties

soaking in hot water and dishsoap

stuff is as bad as cooked spinach!  Comes down to nuttin'!

One ball has a jingle bell inside. Cirquie is trying to guess which one by using her feline intuition.

28  Found on a one-hour walk in Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. by blupaisan on: January 14, 2017 09:52:40 AM
I was walking in the woods recently, looking for natural items to make a Christmas ornament. I was out for an hour, and was able to spot so many possibilities. I wondered if a craftster could gather items on a similar walk, city, country, anywhere, found items only, then create ANYTHING.
Too lame for a challenge?

29  Re: Rodent Revolution 6 Gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by blupaisan on: January 10, 2017 05:09:34 PM
Well, I have good news and bad news.
Bad news, last night my dear little East died.
So Ouest is on her own now, but to show the spunk she still has in her, here is a pic of her showing off the pocket roler made.

And Cortez explores the block for the first time...

It is odd to have only two now and there will be a  burial come spring, next to the Hollyhocks.

playing a sort of package tag lately but I was able to pick up mine from the PO today, yay!!!

roler made some absolutely adorable items.
a shot of the loot....

and individual pics
(I am not at home for another five days, have been away, so cannot use my sweethearts as models!!!!)

These are draping pocket hideouts that I requested. Ya fold them over the top edge of the glass cage and put the lid on which makes them stay in place. My fluffies love these!!  I can't wait to see them in them.

an adorable hoop of a cheerful mousie! Made with felt pieces and embroidery. I love his little expression.

wood toys and chewies for all to enjoy. I am thrilled that they have packaging from Japan, so much fun!

The most adorable magnets on earth. I have completely run out of ones to hold the many items on my fridge and truly need these. Featured are Cortez, my grey mouse and East and Ouest my white ones. And a cutiepie in one of my fave colors, lime!!

This is a bag that was another on my wishlist. I am horrible about just randomly hurling my candy wrappers and such into the back seat of my car. roler made me this bag to help me get into better habits. I can hang the long lanyard (gorgeous beads!) from my headrest of the passenger seat and it will make the bag at  just the right level for me to use.
The mouse on it is so sweet and the colors and construction of the holder are amazing and wonderful.

I am so happy with my awesome package!!  I promise to post action shots when I get home this weekend.

thank you, roler!!
