581  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: newbie - sublime stitching heart on: February 05, 2009 06:40:53 PM
I love the anatomically correct hearts. What a great idea for Valentine's Day, and what great stitching. And those frames are such a good buy. I bought some last weekend and can't wait to fill them up with something. I'm getting some great ideas on this board.

A couple people have asked about the SW name my daughter got and no its not Boba Fett.  Her name is Mara Jade and for those who don't geek out with your lightsaber out, she eventually married Luke Skywalker in the novels (and some comics).

That's a pretty name. I concede you're a much bigger Star Wars fan than I.  Smiley I've never read the novels. Maybe when she gets older you can cross stitch her a SW themed piece with her name on it. I'll bet she'd like that.
583  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: X-stitchers: Do you finish a color or an area first? on: February 04, 2009 08:28:56 PM
Depending on the size of the project I tend to finish one area at a time but I work the same colors in that area first. The tips I've read suggest having several needles with different colors loaded and stuck into a piece of cloth or placing the needles on a piece of cardboard with a magnet on it. I don't do it that way because if feels like it slows me down instead of helping.

You did a good job designing the knots. It looks like a professional pattern. And I love the varigated threads.

Little light sabers, so romantic! (seriously) I just know she'll think this is super sweet of you.

But please tell me you didn't name a baby Boba Fett. lol

What a great gift idea. The stitiching and designs are cool but the drawstrings are really nice too.
587  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: my first cross stitch projects! on: February 03, 2009 07:43:32 PM
It's always nice to see people take up cross stitching. It's so much fun and so realxing (well, most of the time  Grin). You did good work on these. That cat is pretty complicated for a first effort.
588  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Present for Nanny on: February 03, 2009 07:27:16 PM
This is such a thoughtful idea. I'll bet Nanny will be thrilled. The pictures of him working so hard on the stitching and the pride on his face are great. You have a very sweet and creative little boy.

This is certainly an unusual idea for onesies, but they came out great. You must really be an SVU fan. The embroidery technique is most welcome as well. I've been scratching my head about ways to transfer patterns.

This is the coolest needlebook I've ever seen. It would be perfect for small cross stitching projects. The cloth and thread would go in the pockets and then the pages for needles. Totally awesome!
