1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Red Riding Hood Playsuit /pj's with CUTE SURPRISE on: November 14, 2009 10:03:17 AM
I lurve it! The first thing I thought of was the roller-disco craze. ("Xanadu", anyone?) Anyway, that ruching is gorgeous and the trapdoor is super cute. The whole thing is very flattering.

I likey!!! The horn looks great. Your friend is lucky. On a serious note, little girls would love this - if i'd have had one of those when I was 8 - 12, in the 80's, that thing would have been on my head every single time I went out in public. And I had the type of Mom who would have totally approved of that. Everything I owned back then had a unicorn or pegasus on it.

tsamutiny: That's a good question- it's kinda vague, and doesn't say exactly what its supposed to be. I think it's kind of a saloon girl thing and if the petticoat were frilly enough, could be a can-can girl. Yes, I had to alter the vest a LOT. But my main issue was the side front panels- they overlapped. I also had to take in one of the side seams a few inches.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!  Grin

That is hot!  Cheesy I like the scallop-y bottom too.

Yowza! I love that. I truly hope that styles like this will soon be en vogue again... they are so flattering. I too, would be interested to see how this is made.

This pattern, S3618, is your basic tart-y looking pirate, red riding hood, French maid, etc getup with a circle skirt, lace up bodice, and puffy shirt. I made a red riding hood costume but did a few things differently than the pattern called for. I'm probably too old to be wearing such a thing... but anyway, It's the most complicated thing i've made, as a beginning sewer. I wore it out for Halloween. I know its a costume and not exactly clothing, but to me was more of a sewing project as i'm trying to learn the basics of garment construction, so thought i'd share it. Thanks for lookin!

Oh My! What a great idea. Well, that's one awesome solution to the "what to do with my atc's" issue.

Here's something completely out of my norm...  inky layers technique from Bernie Berlin's "Artist Trading Card Workshop" book, and a packing tape transfer.

Boy, did I make a mess while doing this one.

Miss New England, that card is great!
