1821  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Run Away With the Circus Gallery on: August 26, 2010 09:50:44 AM
I'm posting a few pics for Lady Lovecraft, although I'm still hoping she'll have action shots!

Here's the whole package:

Drawstring backpack for unicycling, little learn to juggle book, rice-filled juggling balls, framed artwork, hair clip, and unicycle jewelry.

Close up of the artwork:

It's paint, pen, and colored pencil. The frame is covered with fabric.

36.   Quilting: Completed Projects

Huge color wheel quilt!

That makes 10 for me! Not sure which board I'm going to tackle next... maybe do the old scrapbooking challenge!
1826  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Huge color wheel (my first quilt!) on: August 25, 2010 11:56:23 AM
I'm quite proud of this! It's based off of the pattern in Last Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts, but seeing as I only had access to it for a few days it's not exactly what they say to do. Also, it's huge!

I used different colored threads for the quilting, depending on where the lines were radiating. I also hand-stitched a little circle of fabric and batting to the center to disguise the messy intersection.

Here's the back (it's not actually lopsided, just hanging oddly):

Close up of the binding (I used this tutorial):

And a size reference!

This was pretty fun to make, even though I messed up quite a bit and there are many imperfections. Comments welcome!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

I'm actually the same way, Muria! I just have trouble pacing myself. This quilt probably should have taken a week or so, but I pieced the entire top in a day, then did all the quilting in a day, and then the binding in a day as well. My back was sore and my fingers stiff, and my boyfriend had to keep reminding me to eat. But if I didn't finish it so fast it would never get done!
