21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Setting the Miniature Scene Swap signups 6/5/15 - 6/12/15, sendouts 7/10/15 on: July 31, 2015 10:11:50 AM
I'm very grateful to tendstowardschaos for coming forward for me. It's good of you to help out at such short notice.

My pleasure! I'm having fun crafting for you!

That is beautiful! And congratulations on getting a project finished! *as I look at my huge stack of w.i.p.s....*

Thanks! I also had a huge pile of WIPs. I'm slowly working my way through it, and trying to resist starting anything new. Trying.

This is absolutely gorgeous!  Love the way the bottom of the dress flows.
Maybe you should make dresses for poeple next, although I'm sure they wouldn't sit still as long as the poppet did. Smiley

Thank you! I actually do love making dresses for myself! I just finished a red jersey dress...then had to take it in after I lost a bunch of weight. I was going to start on a linen shirtdress, but then I got pregnant. I'd hate to finish it only to have outgrown it in several places. Wink I also have a WIP hogging my dress form right now anyway.

Thanks, everyone, for all of the kind comments!  Kiss

I got the idea for her dress from the Tinkerbell movies - all the fairies have clothes made from leaves and flower petals, still sort of in their original shape.

Her hair is wool dyed with royal blue Wilton's food coloring....lots of food coloring.  Wink

she's beautiful, i would gladly make a home for her should she need one  Roll Eyes Wink
Sorry, my son immediately claimed her as his own.  Cheesy
24  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Blue Butterfly Elf Doll on: July 07, 2015 10:39:07 AM
This poor doll has been sitting on a shelf in my sewing room for years, waiting for me to finally dress her. It took me long enough, but I stitched her dress on yesterday.

I had this really pretty, blue monarch butterfly print that matched her hair, so I cut out as many individual "wings" as I could. I used a flame to singe the edges and keep them from unraveling, then I pinned the little pieces onto the doll to make the dress. I just hand-stitched the edges down with some variegated thread, trying not to sew the dress to the doll. It went together very quickly, and was probably the easiest method for making a doll's dress that I've managed yet.  Grin

Thanks for looking!
25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Big Polar Bear from Sweatshirt on: February 05, 2015 08:47:18 AM
I still have had my cheerleading sweatshirt from high school. It's been slowly disintegrating, from being well-loved and often worn, for about 16 years. It finally got too holey to wear, even in private. But, I still didn't want to throw it away! Tongue That's why it got recycled into a giant teddy bear.

I came up with the pattern based on some I found on google images and one that I purchased. It took me a couple of tries to get the head gusset correct, and he still has a giant head. Undecided The stitching is in red - school colors. He's wearing some of my son's clothes that have been out-grown (size 18 month). His arms and legs are button-jointed, and his eyes are just big, black buttons.

It's so beautiful!  I wish I was that talented!

Thank you, frankibean!

I recently finished another...I'm going for a series of four to pretty-up my walls. This one is based on the same nebula as my first painting, but very different results.

Here it is under black light (the blue section only looks blob-like in pictures...my camera doesn't like that color):

Thanks, Waterbaby! I'm just getting used to brushes vs. sponges, and this paint doesn't have the opacity that regular acrylic does. I'm having fun learning, though!

Oh wow. Those are gorgeous. I have been on a space images kick lately, so these are right up my ally! Can I pin them to my Crafty Craftster Creations board on my Pinterest? Smiley

Thank you! I'm kind of obsessed with space right now, too. I don't mind at all if you pin them.

The paint took a bit of searching to find, but I knew it had to exist. A lot of the haunted mazes I've been to were decorated with blacklight-sensitive paint, and you wore 3-D glasses to make it really disorienting.

I started painting nebulae on t-shirts, and bought this UV-reactive acrylic paint (wildfirefx.com) to that effect. However, after a fun night at a Wine and Canvas event, I wanted to try this on canvas.

They're both 10"x10".

Here's my first try (that's the original Enterprise):

Here's the second one (still haven't decided if I'm adding a ship to this one):

I just wish I could show you what they look like with 3-D glasses on!

Thanks for looking! Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Smiley
