1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tardis Dress on: June 21, 2013 02:38:46 AM
Just realized I never posted this here.

Tardis dress I made for my roommate.

Cotton fabric from spoonflower, with blue bias tape.  I can't remember which pattern I used for it.  But I made the wrong size, so I had to take in the seam allowances and add a stripe of blue bias tape in the bodice.  I think it turned out cute anyway.

More pictures on the blog if you're interested: http://craftblog.rehtaeh.com/2013/04/the-tardis-dress.html

Here's a bag a made for The Great Geek Swap in 2008 (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=242891.0#axzz2S1pwH4zI).  Seems like a really long time ago now.

I was a swap angel for someone who's partner flaked.  She said she liked the movie "Juno" and that she was in college (probably graduated by now!), so I made her a bag with the logo from the high school in the movie on it.

I filled the many pockets with lots of strange stickers, 'cause why not.

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / chandelier makeover on: April 02, 2012 11:25:02 PM
I only have one drawer in my place and oddly there is nothing in it.  But I've had this chandelier lurking around on the floor for over a year.

So, I stripped it, painted it, cleaned the crystals that came with it, rewired it and covered it in wire, crystals and beads.

The final result:

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Home Made Light Box on: March 13, 2012 10:24:52 PM
In an effort to get good pictures of my crafts, I made this light box:

I used white cloth stapled to frames made of half inch square dowel rods.  I cut the rods in half and stapled them into squares, then stapled the white cloth to them.  The square panels stay together with Velco, so I can take it apart and store them flat.

I have lots of pictures of the process on my blog here: http://craftblog.rehtaeh.com/2012/03/home-made-light-box.html

And here the finished product, a picture of my hat:

6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Die Hard- Nakitomi Plaza on: November 07, 2011 11:43:53 PM

My costume was Nakitomi Plaza.  I made a silver and black dress and painted the building on it.   The windows are a shiny fabric I cut into strips and glued to the dress.  The explosion is made from glittery tulle.  I also printed out and attached a John McClane and Hans Grueber.  And of course, helicopter in my hair.  (And Argyle socks for Argyle the limo driver in the parking garage).

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Art Guitar on: November 08, 2009 03:16:23 PM
So my friend asked me to paint this old dead guitar he has to match the logo for his recent CD release (which another friend of ours designed).  You can see a cut out of the orginal logo next to the guitar.

I wrote out the words in china marker and then filled them in with acrylic white paint.  He's going to seal it with a matt clear coat before he takes it out for photoshoots and to be in his music video.

Here's the guitar with the words written out in china marker:

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / my sister's Christmas present- shhh! on: December 13, 2008 08:08:59 AM
My sister loves the Beatles and when I saw these color 7 inch vinyls at the record store, I knew I had to make her a purse w/ them.

a close up of the record

and pictures galore:

Here's the lining, which is an image I got from the white album online and printed onto the white material by ironing it onto freezer paper and sending it through my inkjet printer.  I was out of color ink, so the pictures had to be black and white.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / magnetic tape purses- picture crazy on: December 12, 2008 11:32:16 PM
I've been VHS tape purse making crazy since late summer.  And these are the fruits of that:

This one has wool yarn mixed w/ the tape.

This guy was the first one I made, no yarn in it.

The froggie purse!

This is one I actually use

This little one holds my MP3 player

This one is with "thick and quick" yarn, lol

This one has a craft ring in it to give it that circular shape.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / corduroy leaf skirt on: September 20, 2008 11:18:02 AM
here's a silly little skirt I made to wear to a work party.  Makes me laugh.  It's orange corduroy with fake leaves sewn to the hem.  There's a petticoat under it to make it all fluffy

(I'm all sweaty from dancing in this picture, the skirt was quite twirly on the dance floor)
