1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Grapevine within metal frame cross on: April 08, 2017 04:35:48 PM
Walking through a cemetery today,we saw several crosses with a metal form filled with grapevine in the shape of a cross.  Went straight to Old Time Pottery, which was the closest floral merchant in the area.  Nothing close.  Hobby Lobby fit after.  Zilch.

Has anyone seen these in a brick and mortar store?  Knew we should take a photo, but of course didn't.
2  UNITED STATES / Tennessee / The Big Stitch - Nashville, TN on: January 30, 2017 09:37:18 PM
Didn't find anything about this organization listed in this section of the board and thought I'd share. They have an event coming up next on Feb 4, 2017 from 9a-3p. A lot of donated yarn, patterns, crochet hooks, knitting needles and various other supplies will be available for purchase. There are door prize giveaways too! Free classes are held throughout the day, but do require registration. (They are also conducting 4 session classes at various libraries around town.)

Check the website for further details and future events. http://knitandcrochet.org   Direct to Big Stitch page:  http://knitandcrochettn.org/the-big-stitch-2/
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Looking for Crocheted Hoop Earrings post on: August 19, 2016 11:08:22 PM
I am thinking that sometime this year I saw a pair of earrings someone posted where they had crocheted over a pair of hoop earrings.  I've tried searching the terms and well i am sure you know how that went.  Seems like she even used a thin green (chartreuse) thread and maybe it was just a tight chain stitch?  It could've been on a group post and not on it's own.  Anyone remember these or might be the creator?
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bracelet - Flowered - Black, White, Pink & Clear on: August 03, 2016 11:32:37 AM
I went into our regular workshop last night wearing red and with full intentions to make a bracelet centered around red because of that.  Then I saw this pretty shimmering pink beads and I pouted a little when I returned the pretty two shiny beads that I had found that wouldn't work.  When I found the two large beads with flowers and the little square clear piece with a flower, that was it!  It was then that I knew I had already gotten my mind changed and this was where it was going!  (The angle/lighting is making some of the pink beads look orange.)

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Scarf Camera Strap on: June 28, 2016 02:09:12 PM
Maybe a year or two ago, i saw a photo of a scarf camera strap that i think was on Pinterest.  I kind of put it in the back of my mind for a while.  Then walking through the dollar store a couple of weeks ago, I saw that they had long scarves.  I grabbed one.  After all, it was only a buck.  And actually, I had to cut it in half to be the right length, so I can get two out of one.

The black ends are actually made from material I cut from a thrift store skirt that I had purchased for $1 a while back and just had it in my stash.  I am not counting out how many of these I can get out of the skirt!

I had to pick up the hardware, black chain maille rings and heavy-duty black thread from the craft store.  Was able to use coupons on two of those, because of a second trip, so not so bad.  Because my camera strap bars were so narrow, I put two rings on each end to handle the clip.  I could probably get away with one, but I am not taking a chance on my camera taking a dive.  Same reasoning behind the heavy-duty thread vs a thin thread.

I used a quick dry fabric suitable glue on each end of the scarf gluing each fold over until the ends were narrow enough.  I hand-sewed the hardware into each black end and then glued the black ends onto each end of the strap.  That would've probably been strong enough, but again no chances.  I still hand-sewed each round closed catching some scarf in each.  I know it isn't the prettiest sewing job, but I am okay with it. It was difficult to get through the layers of glue.

I think it could also work for a lightweight purse strap for something different.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Leather Mini Post-It Cover Book on: June 28, 2016 01:40:03 PM
I took another book making workshop over the weekend.  Afterwards, we had a scrap pile to pull whatever we wanted to make other things with.  I opted to finally make something I had wanted to for a while.  A cover for my mini post-it notes to carry in my purse without them peeling off and sticking to everything in sight!

It ended up being a quick 5-10 minute project.

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Cork Reindeer Ornament on: June 14, 2016 08:56:14 PM
I created this lil guy several months back and then a contest came up within the past couple of weeks, by a local reuse craft store, so I took some pix of him and entered him into it.  (To vote, you have to "like" him on their page.")  Then I decided that I should share him over here.  I've been kind of slack about sharing new projects.  I need to catch up.

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bracelet - Blue/Green Malachite? Beads on: January 12, 2016 06:53:26 PM
This is a bracelet I just put together last night!  Yay one that didn't take me months to post!  I forgot to ask the friend I got the beads from for this what they were but maybe someone on here would know?  The little black spacers feel a little like lava rock, but I'm not positive on it.  When I googled, the closest thing for the green beads were malachite and the blue are similar to that as well.

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bracelet - Purple/Lilac & Clear Glass Beads on: January 12, 2016 06:45:27 PM
This is a bracelet I put together in October 2015, but again just now getting around to posting it.

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bracelet - Aurora Borealis Leaves & Lava Rock on: January 12, 2016 06:37:52 PM
I actually put this bracelet together in June 2015, but never did get around to getting it posted on here.  A friend has done a few workshops at our local library, she also happens to work there.  She brings in five containers of beads and allows us to have at it.  I love sparkle, so of course these leaves got my attention right away when they were changing color in the light and then the lava rock just seemed to work best with them.
