141  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Lots of New Earrings! on: March 17, 2014 03:25:15 PM
So my 9 year old son BEGGED me to let him get his ears pierced for two years.  I finally caved and let him do it last summer.  The problem is finding masculine earrings for him.  He had wanted and wore some fake diamond studs for a while (wanting to be like his dad) but got made fun of and called a girl Sad  So I scoured Etsy and found some really neat earrings but they were rather expensive.  I decided I could make them myself.  Our fellow craftster Breegy had mentioned that she was graphic designer so I asked her to do a personal swap with me for 10mm images.  I ordered the earring supplies and made all these earrings for my kids over the weekend.  I will keep a few pairs for myself but they were both super excited and my son now has quite a few pairs of boy themed earrings to choose from.  Some of the Mod Podge isn't 100% dry on these which is why a few of them still appear cloudy...

142  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / 20 Minute Tote on: March 10, 2014 10:07:53 AM
This is the second tote bag I have made using this tutorial from The Purl Bee.  I made this bag for my partner in the Box of Color Swap.  It does come together quickly but I wish it was lined. I suppose it wouldn't be that hard to add a lining into if you wanted though.

143  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Button Hoopla on: March 05, 2014 08:48:28 AM
I made this purple button hoopla for Acadian Driftwood in the Box of Color Swap  I chose to create a box of purple for her and thought a purple button encrusted hoopla would be something fun and different!  I tried to use lots of different shades, shapes, and sizes to completely cover the purple felt.  Acadian Driftwood gave the okay for me to use her photo as it shows the colors much better than mine!  Thank you Smiley

144  COOKING / Dessert / Cherry Cheesecake Dip on: March 04, 2014 08:18:00 AM
We had a block watch party over the weekend and I wanted to make something quick and easy to share with our group.  After going through a ton of pins on Pinterest I decided to make this Cherry Cheesecake Dip

I changed the recipe up a bit though.  For mine you will need:
1 8oz box of cream cheese, softened
1 tub of whipped cream
1/2 a jar of marshmallow fluff
1 can of cherry pie filling over the top
Graham Crackers

Mix the cream cheese and marshmallow fluff together, fold in the whipped cream.  Spread over bottom of prepared pan.  Spread cherries over the top, eat with the crackers.

This was super easy to make and went over really well with everyone!
145  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Wild Olive Stitch Club Stitch-Along on: February 28, 2014 11:23:25 AM

(image taken from the Wild Olive Blog)

Since it seems a few craftsters are going to participate in the Wild Olive Spring Club I thought I would create a board where we could talk about it and share progress.

The stitch club includes embroidery and English paper pieced hexagons to make a lap quilt.  You get a new design to embroider every week.

Here is a link if you want more info or want to sign up

146  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / You Remind Me of the Babe... What Babe? on: February 28, 2014 07:51:18 AM

Freezer paper stenciled shirt I made for a claim in the Ongoing Wish Swap.  As I was cutting the stencil my daughters friend was over and had no idea what Labyrinth was so I had to pull up Youtube to show her Jareth and the goblins singing!
147  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / To the Moon and Back on: February 19, 2014 08:14:14 AM
I stitched this hoopla up for the Monthly Hoopla Stitch Along.  January's theme was was Too the Moon and Back and I found the perfect pattern on Urban Threads.  I am trying to use different stitches in my hoops and for this I used the satin stitch, the split stitch, the stem stitch, and the back stitch.

149  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / DIY Dollar Store Candy Bouquets on: February 13, 2014 10:10:19 AM
I went to the grocery store and saw they had these gorgeous candy bouquets in the floral department.  I thought that would be a unique and fun gift for my kids.  Well not so much at $20-$30 each!  So I thought to myself, I can make those!  I went to the Dollar Store and bought my supplies.  Please excuse my horrid photos as they were taken in my room since I don't want my kids to see what I am making them

Gather your supplies:

You will need:
A Basket or vase
Floral Foam
Tissue Paper
Candy (I used the snack size)
Craft sticks
Tape
I also purchased some pencils and heart picks

Tape a craft stick to the back of each candy bar

Take two pieces of tissue paper and place your craft foam in the middle.  Place the foam in the basket and use the inner sheet of paper to completely cover/hide the foam

Start sticking your candy sticks in to hold the tissue paper down.

Here is your finished basket!
150  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Valentines Day Shirts for my Valentines on: February 13, 2014 09:40:11 AM
I made these three freezer paper stenciled shirts for my kids and my neighbors kid.  I found the ideas and stencils on Pinterest.

For my son I had to find something that wasn't too girly.  Don't want to ruin his 9 year old street cred with hearts!

For my daughter who is now a teenager I made one that isn't for babies

I help out a lot with my neighbors 6 year old daughter (he is single dad) and I couldn't give something to my kids without giving something to her too!  I think I made a shirt like this for my daughter years ago but I can't remember for sure...
