1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: Does anyone know where to find bead stringing "chain" - not wire? on: September 12, 2009 01:02:16 PM
Found it - at least the right style of chain in sterling silver - from Monster Slayer. It's item CHB-BDE7 about half way down the page (no individual item links) http://www.monsterslayer.com/Pages/SSChains_Spool/SSChainsSpool.aspx Now I wonder if it's available in other finishes!

Sorry I haven't been back in ages - thank you all for your input. I've ordered a few feet each of some of the likely candidates - I'll report back if any of them are a match!

My daughter forwarded me the link to this thread because I'm a huge Discworld fan - that is a wonderful creation, planetjune, I hope you're immensely proud of it! Smiley

Thank you for the complements!

I like it. You know, it would look VERY cute with a pink polo...not that you own any or anything.  Wink
It looked very nice with my aqua polo under a lightweight pale yellow sweater today, as a matter of fact Smiley I will try it with one of my "rare" pink ones, soon, promise Smiley

I finished this set today. The necklace is designed so I can attach a badge to it, but I photographed it how it can also be worn as a necklace. The larger beads are aqua tinted glass ovals with a vit of a twist to them. In between are clear seed beads with a peacock green lining and yellow quartz crystal beads. It was fun and fast to make!

Thanks for responding beaddizzy. I do use the needle nose pliers, still the loops don't always come out the way I want them to. Like the saying goes "practice, practice, practice" Smiley

I usually use eyepins so at least one loop is in good shape, haven't tried making the entire thing from wire yet, thanks for the tip on the gauge!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: *wonkey scarf* (first scarf and it looks it!) on: April 21, 2008 06:50:25 PM
You finally finished it! I'm so proud. Smiley I'd like one in pink for my birthday.

Thanks for the nice comments! I think it would be fun to make several of these and string them like the garland to wear as a necklace, or make a bracelet of them with alternating colors, sitting side by side. Do you think they need to be earth tones, or would they still be recognizable as owls if they were other colors (purple or green, for example)?

Great idea to try them on a necklace, I think it would be fabulous - perhaps attaching them to a necklace made with the same type of beads stitched as a long tube (I'm not a bead weaver/stitcher, so I don't know if that makes sense)?

The multiple colors, I think they would work, but until you actually see how they turn out it's probably a coin toss if they'd look enough like owls, but the way you've got the eyes and other face details, I think they'd look like owls no matter what colors.

Is that a tiger's eye stone in the second pendant? I love tiger's eye and your design sets that bold pendant off beautifully.

Wonderful color schemes and the variety of beads you used makes them fun. I'm curious about where to find those little dolls, too!
