21  Gloves, actually in Knitting: Completed Projects by squeakyweasels on: November 17, 2006 03:53:35 PM
These started out as Knitty's Broadripple socks, but I decided I liked them better on my arms...

23  Re: What do you wear in your cold office? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by squeakyweasels on: June 22, 2006 11:11:02 AM
My office is freezing!

Remember when legwarmers seemed like a good idea? They are perfect for hiding under a desk!

And I love these little guys:

They're actually looking a bit worn now... the sign of a good knit, I guess.

24  DNA cable & lace tank shell (pattern link!) in Knitting: Completed Projects by squeakyweasels on: May 05, 2006 07:25:56 AM
I was inspired by this beautiful knit: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=88165.0
and this cool cable: http://www.twosheep.com/helix/

to create THIS (my own design)!

Here's me acting all cute in it:

I did actual math while writing the pattern, and it fits perfectly -- waist shaping and all. I couldn't be more proud.

The pattern is on my blog!

Please email or PM me if you have any questions or problems. It's my first real attempt at a pattern with sizing, so don't hesitate to point out any issues.

26  The infamous Mountain Laurel blanket in Knitting: Completed Projects by squeakyweasels on: March 17, 2006 09:48:36 AM
Okay, it's only infamous to me. I'd always thought it was the most beautiful and intricate baby blanket imaginable, but I didn't have enough faith in my pattern reading until recently to actually attempt it.

Eight weeks and 1200 yards of white acrylic later...

I modified the size a bit (the actual pattern would make it almost adult sized, and I needed a baby gift), making it a respectable 48 x 33 inches. The yarn I used was Plymouth Utopia, which turned out to be a really good choice for showing stitches, although my first impulse was to use cotton. My only complaint about the yarn was its tendency to split.

I loved this project. I never got bored with it, and it was so satisfying to keep sewing each little piece together and watching it grow.

I'm going to miss it when I send it off to its new home with baby Harry T.!

First, one more gratuitous photo of my 4-year-old posing with the freakishly lifelike doll:

"Can't move... doll will eat me..."

28  Button hat/booties for a new baby boy in Knitting: Completed Projects by squeakyweasels on: October 06, 2005 07:17:14 AM

I made the hat and booties for a couple who weren't finding out what they were having. I made it in blue thinking if it was a girl I'd pop a big, floppy flower on the hat. But he turned out to be a boy, and it seemed so plain without any decoration. So I sewed on some little white buttons for cuteness.

FINISHED! Well, sort of. I made the straps too long and I have to undo the graft and shorten them a bit. And I do wish I'd added even more decreases because it's still pretty wide. But whatever! I'm happy with it.

Still needs to be blocked and such.

That's me wearing it and kind of holding up the top part while being all self conscious. But you can kind of see how nicely it drapes.
