I love Burdastyle's Azalea dress. It looks a lot like a dress one of the designers made on last season's Project Runway. Here it is:
I have seen this style of dress in many places and really like it. I could never wear it myself because of my large chest, but I have an almost 10 year old that I think would love it. The problem is, I can't find this pattern in young girl sizes. I suppose I could try to wing it since it has very few pieces, but I'd rather get a pattern for $1 at one of the pattern sales and take the guesswork out of the project. I found a couple that might work:
I realize that none of those have an underskirt, but that's easily remedied. Do you think any of these would work to replicate the Azalea? I think that #2 probably comes the closest, but I'd need to see it in real life and I've only looked online so far. Am I making this pattern too difficult in my head? I suppose I'm most concerned about the yoke of the dress. The gathered skirt should just be a big rectangle, so that shouldn't be that hard... Okay, I seem to be rambling now. I'd appreciate any incite anyone might have in the making of this dress.
Thanks in advance.
