1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / a new bag for spring. on: May 08, 2008 06:25:44 PM

It's been a while since I posted a FO on here but I am super proud of this one because I got to use my new sewing skills for a proper lining, too.

The pattern is the Counterpane Carpet Bag from Handknit Holidays by Melanie Falick. One of my favorite knitting books--I recommend it even if you are an atheist!

The yarn is Noro Iro.

The handles are 9" bamboo.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / blythe-sized poncho [with free pattern link] on: December 19, 2007 05:09:51 PM
I know, I know. I was always one of those people who said ponchos were evil. But it looks cute on my doll and goes with her seventies vibe. I wrote up the pattern and it is available for free on my website here.

I used Koigu KPPM and size 3 needles, magic-loop. Thanks for looking and I'd love some feedback!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / sorcery slippers on: October 02, 2007 08:06:31 PM
I think this pattern is magical because you would never know they work as slippers until you slip them on. it's just increasing + ribbing + decreasing= slippers.

I made these with modifications from Miss Twiss's blog as a present. They worked out perfectly. I used exactly one skein of Plymouth Suri Merino from the stash and some plastic buttons. A pic of my next pair already in progress can be found on the blog.
4  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Rhinebeck Sweater Knitalong on: September 20, 2007 05:00:12 PM
I know I'm not the only one trying to finish a knitted sweater for Rhinebeck! I tried last year with my CPH, but was unsuccessful. Will this be my year to come out on top? I hope so. I'm making the Cabled Cardigan from Runway Knits and I have done the back, left front and half a sleeve.

I love me some short row cables.

Is anyone else knitting something to wear to Rhinebeck?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my so-called cabled capelet on: September 10, 2007 01:12:05 PM

That's the cabled capelet by Teva Durham. It was such a quick knit on size 19's, using all three of her new yarns. I highly recommend it! The pattern is free here although the chart is missing one symbol. The v with a dot on top is a purl front and back. I started during a workshop I took with Teva on Saturday and was done on Sunday.

My favorite thing about it is the fact that that is not a real cable. It's actually increases and decreases! There are also faux seams.

More info is on my blog, if you're interested.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / I <3 New York Dishcloth [w/ pattern!] on: August 29, 2007 07:25:17 AM

I knit this because:
a) She should have won Flavor of Love.
b) I live here.
c) I liked knitting the map dishcloth.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Corrugated Zig Zags? on: February 03, 2007 11:39:05 AM
Anyone have an idea as to how they did this? It looks so cool!

8  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Thermal from Knitty on: January 30, 2007 10:45:13 AM
I think this sweater is so wearable and classic looking! I have never done something at this large a scale with such a fine gauge but I think it looks worth it. The pattern calls for Knit Pick's Gloss, which makes it very affordable.

You can look at it here.

Is anyone else interested in making one?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Julia Roberts & Dakota Fanning on knitting on: December 24, 2006 01:39:40 PM
From Life Magazine:
LIFE: Youre both Georgia-born girls who knit. Are either of you knitting anything for Christmas?
ROBERTS: Im currently knitting an orange sweater for myself.
FANNING: Im really bad, because I havent even knit my sister [Elle, 8] a scarf.
ROBERTS: You should get on it. Get yourself some big needles. You know whats fun is knitting a poncho.

10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / manly sweater pattern? on: December 15, 2006 02:44:41 PM
My dad has requested a handknit sweater after seeing my Central Park Hoodie. He wants cables and a crew neck. He is a very classic, conservative dresser.  I'm afraid to attempt a full-on aran and I think that would end up too heavy for him, anyway.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel like I have looked everywhere and I'm getting discouraged.

He really deserves this sweater.
