@seeuudee: I added Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe to my hold list at our library.  When I did, the library system recommended another title....  Red's HOT Cowboy.  Yep, 'hot' was in all caps.   Kiss

Wow, that is some jump Cheesy

I had a look on Goodreads - it gets quite good reviews. I have never felt the need to dip into the genre called "western romance" but how could you resist a series called Spikes and Spurs?  Roll Eyes

Project Name: Treasure map

Brief Description: We organised a Fun at the Fair fundraising evening with our Brownies and one of the stalls was a Treasure Island Lucky Square. Brown Owl tasked me with making the map. I sketched it out first on the back of an old brown paper bag. I went over it in black and added small touches of colour. I had read of a technique to age brown paper with oil, but my husband said it may make the ink run, so suggested I use wax instead. I went over the whole thing with a white candle and then ironed it between sheets of tissue paper. It came out really well. I then could not bear the idea of drawing squares across the whole thing! So I covered it in clear plastic and drew the squares on that instead. Smiley (The winning square, chosen by a random number generator, was the group of trees just below The Black Forest wording. Cheesy)

Tiamatfire - love the pattern weights. How do you get on with them? I have never tried cutting out with them - are they easy to work with? And I love your matching dresses.

Project Name: Christmas cupcakes
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: These two felt twinchies were made for the Felt Twinchie Swap and they celebrate baking and Christmas, two things I love, especially together. And the book recommendation that goes with them is Jenny Colgan's Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe. I am not usually a reader of chicklit/romance-y books, but there is something about the way Jenny Colgan writes that I just love. (Just make sure to read Meet me at the Cupcake Cafe first - the books can stand alone, but I found work better if read in order!)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Anniversary Challenge - Kitchen Duty
SPEW: n/a
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Microwave Chocolate Chip Cookie
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I love the idea of mug cakes - the individual serving, minimal washing up, quick and easy, but I have found so many of them disappointing, especially recipes that include an egg. A whole egg is just too much for the rest of the ingredients, so the cooked sponge comes out too eggy for me! This one, however, I love - an individual chocolate chip cookie! Although I have to admit, I don't cook it in a mug. I have some shallow, individual serving bowls that are microwave safe. I find it cooks a little more evenly with less thickness to the batter, but that is just my taste! With a scoop of ice cream on top, this is a perfect pudding!

As a little bonus, this is my favourite chocolate mug cake (no egg!) - http://www.tablefortwoblog.com/the-moistest-chocolate-mug-cake/

Ingredients
1 Tablespoon Butter
1 Tablespoon Granulated White Sugar
1 Tablespoon of firmly packed Dark Brown Sugar
3 Drops of Vanilla Extract
Small Pinch of Kosher Salt
1 Egg Yolk (discard the egg white or save for different recipe)
Scant cup of All Purpose Flour (slightly less than of a cup)
2 heaping tablespoons of Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips plus more for topping

Instructions
Start by melting your butter in the microwave. Butter should just be melted, not boiling.
Add sugars, vanilla and salt. Stir to combine.
Separate your egg and add the yolk only to your cup. Stir to combine.
Add flour, then stir again. Measure a scant, slightly less than full, cup of all-purpose flour.
Add the chocolate chips, and give a final stir. Now your mixture will look like cookie dough. Add a few chocolate chips to the top of the cookie dough.
Cook in microwave 40-60 seconds, start checking for doneness at 40 seconds. Mine takes 50 seconds. Do not cook past one minute, just like a regular cookie, this will continue cooking as it cools. If the cookie is dry or cake like, try less time.
Serve warm.

Notes:
I don't add any additional chocolate chips on top - I find it sweet enough without.
I know it says don't cook beyond one minute, but you know your microwave best - this needs cooking 1 minute and 15 seconds in our microwave, which makes for a perfect texture for me! Cheesy
Hubby likes his with a spoonful peanut butter stirred in, which makes for a slightly softer cookie.

Project Name: Tin Can Bowling
Project Page Link (if available): n/a

Brief Description: We are arranging a "Fun at the Fair" fundraising evening with our Brownie group and one of the things on the list of activities is Tin Can Bowling. So thanks to the dog eating her dinner nicely, I have collected 40 tins, soaked them to get all the labels off and painted them. They had a base coat of red or yellow and then a pattern in either green or blue. I think they turned out to be both lively and busy and the girls had lots of fun testing them out last week.

Brief Description: Made for the prayer flag swap, there is nothing more calming than a peaceful meditation. The decoration in the centre is sacred geometry, which I knew nothing about before starting this swap. The stones at the bottom are to represent the colours of the chakras.

Project Name: Fun at the fair invite
Project Page Link (if available): n/a

Brief Description: The brownies had to draw all the invites for the fundraising evening we are planning, but they always need an example as a starting point and to give them the details they have to include, which Brown Owl asked if I could do. So this is the invite I came up with. I think that both fundraising and having fun at the fair is something all houses would get involved with.

I have now received from Witty_Child, who went with my under the sea theme and they are all amazing.

And I had to add a close up of the jelly fish - it is so beautiful

I love them all, but the jelly fish just pips the other to my favourite I think.

Project Name: Dreams Prayer Flag
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: As part of the prayer flag swap, you have to make one for yourself. I used some leftover red fabric, from making hubby a coat for his LARP outfit, as the background and used the selvedge offcuts from making a pair of trousers. I had no idea what I was going to do before I started sewing, so much so, that I unpicked the gray selvedge pieces twice before I was happy with them! I then played around with the charms before I was happy with the placement - although I am still not 100% happy with them, now that I look at the photo!

Project Name: Asparagus and Stilton Risotto
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I love risotto, but hubby doesn't like it, so I only cook it when I am cooking just for myself. This one was asparagus and stilton. I never use a recipe for making risotto, but below is what I did this time round.

Ingredients:
Small onion
Butter
Risotto rice (3 handfuls)
1 pint vegetable stock
Glass white wine
3oz Stilton - chopped into cubes
10 asparagus spears, cut into 1" pieces
Parmesan to taste

Method:
Finely chop a small onion and fry in butter, over a medium heat, until soft.
Add in risotto rice and stir in until it is all coated in the butter.
Slowly add stock and wine, a bit at a time, stirring each time until it has all gone, before adding any more.
Add in asparagus and Stilton and keep stirring until cheese is melted.
Add parmesan (I used about 2 tbsp) and keep stirring.
Serve, with more parmesan if you like more.
Eat and enjoy

Project Name: Craftster Card Swap Pocket Letter
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: Paper crafting is definitely one of my signature crafts. I love the Craftster Card swap, so many send the cards in fantastic envelopes - I really need to up my game next time!! I couldn't bear to throw everything away, so I created a pocket letter for myself with all the bits and pieces.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Floo - Moon
SPEW: n/a
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Cubed french toast
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: My inspiration for this was my grandmother - she was a very simple cook, in terms of ingredients and experimenting, but was very good at what she did cook. One of the things she did used to cook was Eggy Bread, which I now know is French Toast. However, she always made it as a savoury dish, served with tomato ketchup. We lived with an American friend for a while, who introduced me to French Toast served with cinnamon and sugar, which I love so much more!! (Hubby still prefers the savoury version though!)

I have had this idea pinned for a while and as hubby was away this weekend, I made this all for myself! I loved it so much, because there are more edges, you get more of the lovely crispy bits. So...inspired by Grandmother, but, in my eyes, made better.  Grin

Cube two thick slices of bread. Beat together 1 large egg, 2 tbsp milk and pinch of salt. Coat bread cubes in egg mix. Melt 1 tbsp butter and fry bread cubes until golden - don't try to turn them individually, I just kept them moving and it worked perfectly. Once golden, coat in a blend of sugar and cinnamon. I drizzled a little golden syrup over the top, but maple syrup would work also.

Brief Description: I have used a journal to make notes about my HPC submissions since the Summer term 2015. This time round I have started getting into bullet journalling, so decided to use some of the pages I have seen to set up this terms classes. This is both truly useful - it helps me keep track of classes - and truly unique - whilst the boxes could be used by anyone, no other page will be exactly like this one.

Finally finished my own flag.

I have had the "follow your dreams" for a while, just waiting for the right project. I went through my charms and found some that fit - a dream catcher and a dream washer and the two others say "I will" and "never, never give up".

The material is all leftovers from some costume pieces I have been making - the red was a curtain and the gray are strips of selvedge, which I always keep when cutting fabric, but can't always find projects for them!

10  Re: Craftster Trading Card Swap #2 - GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by seeuudee on: June 16, 2017 12:31:28 PM
I have added pics of the cards into my post on page 3.

I really need to up my game on envelopes! There was absolutely no way I could throw away all of those amazing envelopes, etc. So I created a Round 2 themed pocket letter to add into my Craftster Card folder. The only thing I added in was the numbers to create the month and year!
