1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / san francisco 49ers garter on: April 06, 2008 02:25:08 PM
so a dear friend of mine textd me 2 weeks before her wedding..."does your craftiness allow  you to make me a 49rs theme garter?"

of course it does!  and it also involves me dragging my cowboy into joann's n holding up every piece of ribbon n whatnot up to my cowboy's 49ers jersey(yes, he is a cowboy, and no, he is not a dallas cowboys fan!) and what is more fun than dragging a 6'3" cowboy into a joann's on a rainy sunday afternoon?

so here's the garter...

getting started...

and the finished product...
it really is much more crimson in real life...

and the center i modpodged...

my friend looooved it!  yay me!

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / resinie goodness(img porkie) on: April 03, 2008 07:09:55 PM
ok, i FINALLY took some time to getpix of all my resinie goodness...let's see if i can get them to post...

the little stars are sliver, the green i think is reflecting off the bush i was sitting next to...

this is a gift for a friend...her fave song is 'ace of spades' by motorhead n her fave colour is bright pink...

this one is all about me...i <3 ramen noodles...

and last but not least...

WHEW!  ok, allposted.  admittedly, these are my better pieces, i didn't post the first attempts or the screw-ups(tho the ramen piece was frommy frist run with resin and i'm still the most proud of it)

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / colouring resin~found a new trick! on: March 20, 2008 01:30:57 PM
ok, so i'm pretty new to resin (and i have yet to photograph any of my work even tho i have a shiny new camera...) but anyways, and i read all 6,792 pages of the resin thread before i started, but i discovered something that i wanted to share with all of you trying to colour your resin.

so i needed a bight/neon pink for a background on a piece for a friend.  the only thing i could find was coloured sugar sprinkles for easter, like you would put on sugar cookies.  anyways, i flooded the resin with the sugar sprinkles.  i guess i thought they would still look kinda glittery when it was all set, but it seems the heat reaction from the resin setting actually MELTED the sugar sprinkles a bit...and it looks great~even better than i had hoped!  i'm going to try this again in my next batch with the purple sugar sprinkles i have n see if i get the same awesome translucent results.  if this really works, then michaels has a sick selection of sugar sprinles in a rainbow of colours in their cake decorating section right now that is just begging to be melted into my resin!
