Class/Challenge/House Pride: Muggle Studies
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Jack-o-Lantern Dress
Brief Description: Inspired by the muggle sport of Pumpkin Chunkin.  One event I went to threw used jack-o-lanterns.  Another used very scientific, specially grown perfectly spheroid pumpkins.  You can guess which one was more entertaining.

I agree with ErinAquaheart!  I love looking at all the deadline induced project dumps.

Patty-o-Furniture - Those peg people are absolutely adorable!  I am always jealous of other people's painting skills, 3-D or otherwise.

FiberAlchemist - That quilt top is terrific!!!  It's an unusual color palette that looks really great in such a scrappy pattern.  And I may have to steal your idea of a dice-box for some friends' Christmas presents.

Squeezing in with some extra Quidditch points...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Beater
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Itty Bitty Books
Brief Description: Muggles of old, unable to stow their luggage magically, used to create miniature libraries in order to be able to take their books on the road with them.  Later miniature books became novelties and children's toys.  These are blank, but the sentiment is much the same. {Inspired by Muggle Books}

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Bumphing
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Blue Shrug
Brief Description: I don't sit still very well, so it is better for me and those who I'm sharing a couch with for me to have a small knitting project to work on while I'm watching TV.  This is the final result of a fairly short Stargate marathon.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Blurting
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Career Advisory
Brief Description: While I have my resume builder in the Hogwarts Career Office thread, I usually only remember to check it after the semester has ended.  I made myself a checklist/worksheet to go in my planner after my usual semester pages so I can be more pro-active in choosing projects that will fulfill both requirements.  Washi tape helps disguise ink-bleed through and false starts when writing everything out longhand.  It's now up to date through the Spring Semester, but I still need to go through and enter everything for the Summer Semester.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Cobbing
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Butterfly Dress
Brief Description: The sparkles may not show up in this poorly lit late-night picture, but I think anything that incorporates glitter is by its very nature excessive.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Flacking
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: 2016 Batch of Citrus Swirl Dresses
Brief Description: Dresses are worn on the body, although the bodies in this instance are 6 inches tall and made of resin and elastic rather than flesh and blood.  (I realize this might be stretching things a little bit.  Let me know if  the powers that be think this should be re-assigned.)

45  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*HP Craftalong - Midsummer Semester 2016*~ on: September 10, 2016 06:03:20 PM
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Astronomy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Red Retro Dress
Brief Description: This dress is made of a poly fabric from my great-aunt's stash.  I had to be a little careful with the iron to make sure nothing melted.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Divination
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Gingham Dress
Brief Description: These started out as identical dresses, but then my friend and I had a little bit of fun in the embellishment box with one of them.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Commentator
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Rose Dress
Brief Description: Rather on the traditional side...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Haversacking
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Jelly Jar Dress
Brief Description: Actually, I feel like this needs something extra to be really finished.  Any suggestions for trims/embellishments are welcome!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Referee
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Halloween Dress
Brief Description: Have you run across fabrics that are supposed to be quilting cottons seem to have an almost plasticy feel to them?  I don't know if it's the dye or the sizing or what, but it doesn't wash out so I tend to avoid them.  But sometimes the prints are just too perfect and needs must.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Stooging
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Realfee Dress
Brief Description: I make a lot of these, obviously, so it's getting pretty easy to whip one up.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Study of Ancient Runes
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Red Calico Dress
Brief Description: To be honest, this prompt really confused me so I went with the example rune of dagaz

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy *** Correction : Arithmancy ***
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Petite Fours Dress for Pukifee
Brief Description: Scraps from my great-aunts' stash must be my favorite material given how much of it I use. Tongue

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Floo Powder - Zambia
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: One Single Sock
Project Page Link: Tracks
Brief Description: I'm always amazed when noodle-bug turns in socks for regular old assignments, so I thought I'd give it a shot.  A month later I remembered why I always use them for OWL assignments, so I figured I should turn in the one single sock I have done.  This was originally started for the Little Whinging Floo Powder challenge.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Headmistress' Challenge - August
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Cookies
Brief Description: Classes started last week, so I made my student workers a batch of cookies as sort of a consolation prize for the end of summer.  A poll among the kids last year proved that you can't go wrong with good old chocolate chip cookies.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Herbology
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Oddball Dress for Pukifee
Brief Description: I found a really pretty scrap of recycled vintage fabric that I thought would make a really pretty dress.  But when I started clipping the seams it basically started to disintegrate.   After dousing the whole thing with fray-check before and after turning the bodice it turned out okay, if a little bit crunchy.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Try-Outs
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Summer Vines Dress for Littlefee
Brief Description:  Doll Dress - 'nuff said...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Chaser
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Blue Dresses
Brief Description: Honestly, my notes just say 3 items together.  Hope this counts.

47  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: 2016 Annual DeStash-Along on: August 01, 2016 01:42:19 PM
August Themes

Thread by Nedra, on Flickr

Color: Metallic
For: Exterior of your house or your yard
Pattern: Lace
Inspiration: Sea Life
Challenge #1:  The name of the game is nostalgia.  Make a craft from a different time - maybe using a vintage pattern, or a craft that your grandmother taught you to make, or simply a technique you don't see very often these days.
Challenge #2:  If you're like me, you pick up craft supplies as souvenirs on your journeys.  This month work on using up some of those supplies to bring back the memories of places you've visited.

I will probably be posting more today, but just so I can be sure to get in before the deadline...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Headmistress' Challenge - July
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Butterfly Sundress
Project Page Link (if available): Made with this pattern.
Brief Description:  Lately it seems that most of my doll related sewing has been shop related and all using more or less the same pattern.  I wanted something special for my newest doll, so I made something just for my own collection using a commercial pattern for a change (well, and adaptation of it, anyway).

49  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*HP Craftalong - Midsummer Semester 2016*~ on: July 17, 2016 08:21:42 PM
Class/Challenge/House Pride: Floo Powder - Zoo
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Pattern Making
Brief Description: I picked up a new friend who's a whole lot bigger than my other dolls and just drawing a bigger line around my old pattern wasn't going to work.  I ended up having to make one up out of whole cloth (or paper-towels, in this case) for the first time, resorting to rulers and tape measures instead of just enlarging it on a photocopier.  The first attempt couldn't go past her wrist.  Second attempt wasn't as bad but she couldn't put down her arms.  Third attempt was decent but still needed a few adjustments before committing it to cloth.  #4 could probably use a few more adjustments, but it's good enough for now.

50  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*HP Craftalong - Midsummer Semester 2016*~ on: July 05, 2016 06:46:27 PM
I'm back after a month's absence.  It was spent moving my grandparents into assisted living, and starting the process of clearing out the stuff two pack rats can accumulate when they haven't moved in over 60 years.  Public Service Announcement:  Use your stash!  Or at least keep it organized!  We had to toss so much stuff that was too tangled or just too jumbled to use.

And with that off my chest, on to the massive project dump!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparition
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Mini Magazines
Project Link: Second part of the project made with this tutorial.
Brief Description: While leafing through the knit picks catalog despairing over the fact that I still haven't finished my NEWT sweater (or was it an OWL?  I don't remember at this point it's been so long) and can't justify buying more sock yarn, I noticed that there were a bunch of pictures arranged in a grid-like pattern.  So of course I had to make my dolls some mini knitting magazines.  They're simple pamphlet bindings with sewing thread.  I wanted a few more books to fill up a bookcase, so I made a batch of fake books from cardboard and a quilting magazine, but I'm not as happy with the results.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Floo Powder - Alaska
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Daisy Dress
Brief Description: One of the best parts of using stash fabric is you get to remember the other projects made with the same material.  This dress was made with the leftovers from a quilt I made earlier in the year.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Flying
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Red Calico Dress
Brief Description: Red Red Red

Class/Challenge/House Pride: History of Magic
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Sealife Dress
Brief Description: First of all can I just say that I finally joined Pottermore (yes, I know I'm very late to this party) and got sorted into Gryffindor, so I'm having something of an identity crisis at the moment.  Anywho, I chose Hufflepuff for myself despite usually being lumped into Ravenclaw because I like the whimsy, friendship, and resourcefulness in that house.  This dress embodies at least some of those characteristics - I remade an old ratty doll dress that belonged to a friend into something her dolls could actually use.  She'd given me the dress because she couldn't bear to throw it out herself, and it turns out I couldn't do it either.

170/365 Something Fishy by Trillian, on Flickr

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch Captain
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Sassafras Sweater
Brief Description: This sweater took some planning to make sure the stripes on the sleeves matched and that they were the same length.  While I usually keep knitting patterns on my ipad I reverted to good old pen and paper to keep track of my rounds.
