PC60-64-7 by Schlesinger Library, RIAS, Harvard University, on Flickr

Color:  Black
Pattern:  Lace
For:  Cold Weather (If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, I of course meant to say Warm Weather gear)
Challenge 1:  If you're anything like me, you love the adrenaline rush at the beginning of the project, but by the time rolls around to clip threads, sew on snaps, and all the other little things that make a project truly finished you've gotten bored and moved on to the next craft.  So pull out those almost finished projects from wherever they're hiding, and take care of the finishing touches.
Challenge 2: Much like our pinterest challenge from earlier in the year this one is about all the lovely craft books you have lined up on your shelf.  If you have a book you love but have never done anything from, pull it down and see if something from your stash will suit.

CUTE doll cloths...but it is hard to compete with those faces.  Please, what brand dolls are those?  I hated dolls as a kid, but there are some so fabo dolls around these days Grin

Thanks! They are from two different companies. The one wearing the hats is a Lati and the dark haired one is from Fairyland. Flickr is full of people who are much better at crafting for and photographing their dolls. Mine are about 6 inches tall and whenever I try to sew for them I feel like my fingers get really fat and clumsy.

Color:  Grey
Pattern:  Argyle
For:  Your Workplace (or School if that's more appropriate)
Challenge 1:  Remember those supplies you bought to teach yourself a new craft that are languishing unused at the bottom of your stash?   Now might be a good time to dust them off, find some instructions, and knuckle down.
Challenge 2: Use up a specific number of items from your stash.  You know what you have better than anyone else, but try for something like 1 yard of cloth, 2 skeins of yarn, 4 buttons, 8 sheets of scrapbook paper, 16 beads, etc. etc. etc.  Whatever suits your stash best, just pick a number and try your hardest.

texscrapper - Whatever little girl has a dino-themed birthday party is incredibly awesome, and lucky to get such a cute t-shirt, too.

dulcet - I love the color combination in your corduroy quilt.  That's going to be really cozy.

I have a few projects of my own.  I didn't manage to post as frequently as I'd hoped, but still made some good progress.
First and foremost a pair of Dashing Mitts that will be a Christmas present for my grandfather.

The rest are little bitty things for little bitty dolls.

A tiny beanie that finished off a tiny ball of yarn I'd been saving for years.

A yellow dress:

And a blue one.  This one turned out shorter because I ran out of that color thread.  Yay!

I made another little dress, but it has disappeared somewhere into the mess of my craft area.  Oops.

Color:  Rainbow
Pattern:  Stars
For:  Pets
Challenge 1:  Make a scrappy project!  This is also a good time to go through your scraps and realistically evaluate how small something can be and still be useful.
Challenge 2:  On the go projects - Make something you can work on while you're out and about.

As usual, I've accomplished very little this month in the way of DeStashing (I have however packed and moved a friend and spent a week cat-sitting an animal that likes to eat yarn and destroy paper, which kind of cuts down on crafting abilities).

I did however, get a Christmas present done - a set of cards for my aunt.

I had a blast with these, so I have a feeling I'll be making more cards in the future.  I found the instructions and some good info about corralling your piles of paper scraps here.

I also spent an afternoon covering everything that wasn't nailed down in washi tape from my stash.  No pictures, because who really needs to see four inches of decorative tape on my cell-phone charger?

And finally I made a set of "my address is changing" cards for my mother but left them at her  new place and forgot to get photographic evidence.  She's promised to send me pictures, but is somewhat technologically challenged.  I'm not holding my breath.

So that was July.  My goal for August is to have at least one project to show for myself each week, even if they are itty-bitty ones.  I need to feel like I'm making a bit more progress on my stash, if only for my own peace of mind.

Color:  Red
Pattern:  Checks/Gingham
For:  Friends
Challenge 1:  Is there a special item in your stash you have been saving for just the right project, whatever that might be?  Go ahead and give yourself permission to use it!
Challenge 2: Take some stress out of the holidays by making a gift now.  Just remember where you put it when the time to actually give it away comes around.

What an awesome quilt, dulcet!  I love the modern lines it has.

In June I drove about 3,500 miles all over the country on various trips, packed up my mother to move her from VA to PA, and got very little crafting done.  This seems to be the theme for 2013.  However, I did finish yet another lapghan:

Artsy Fartsy Shot by AluminumDryad, on Flickr

It looks almost exactly like the last one I made, since I had tons and tons of grey and teal yarn in stash.  These two giant squares still didn't use it all up.

And I made a lap sized quilt.  The only thing from stash there was the batting, which, while it removes a rather bulky item from stash, is completely invisible in the finished product.

Untitled by Smithsonian Institution, on Flickr

Color:  Orange
Pattern:  Solids
For:  Yard (or windowsill/balcony/fire-escape for the apartmet dwellers out there)
Challenge 1:  Six month check in!  Has your stash migrated?  Grown?  Shrunk?  Take a look back at your DeStashing resolutions and see how far you've come.  Are your goals still relevant, or do you need to do some tweaking?
Challenge 2: Have any swaps caught your eye recently but you weren't able to join?  Make something for yourself using the same themes.

I'm not dead!  I've gotten next to nothing done on the crafty - deStashing front but a ton of stuff done in real life, so I suppose it's a trade off.  I did manage to have a friend over for a crafternoon, and between the gabbing, youtube videos, and other distractions we even made a few cards.  And I got her to take some of my paper collection, so while not much crafting was done I consider it a successful destash project.  Sort of.

And with the philosophy of pictures or it doesn't count - some of the cards.
