11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Origami paper butterfly garland on: January 04, 2008 06:57:53 AM
The last post said something about attatching them to lights,  That is a GREAT Idea what about making the butterfly from velumn , you could use clear or any of a zillion colors maybe even embellish with a little glitter and rhinestones, perhaps small wire antenna with a pearl for a head,  the possabilities are endless,  I only wish I had know about these last year when I still had my mother here with us, Sh e loved Butterflies and that would have just made her last Christmas Tree all that more special , Maybe Next year a Pink Tree with the Butterflies in White would be stunning   Thanks for the Inspiration    Andy

Hello, My name is Andy, I am new here to Craftster but I read you post and thought I would respond. I totally understand what you mean  Now dont get me wrong, I love looking at all that stuff but I like getting Ideas from them so much better . This year we did our Christmas decor in White and Black with touches of silver and blue now before you die laughing it actually turned out very nice,  The reason I choose to do Black was that I was not going to even bother putting up a tree this year, I lost my Mother this past year to cancer and to be honest was just not in the mood to celebrate the season,  Anyway I remember seeing a few black ornaments last year at Wal-Mart and thought if I was going to put on up I may as well do Black to reflect my mood considering I am still in Mourning   To make a long story short My mother always loved her silly things on the tree  She even decorated walnuts and put them on our tree last year,  I spent this Christmad hand crafting ornaments and remembering her and though I would have prefered to have had her here with me I had a much better Christmas with a Black Tree that I think I would have other wise,  I guess due to the fact do you realize how hard it is to find BLACK CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS  so I was FORCED to take note from ready made and make my own and am very glad I did,    I just wish I had some of those Walnuts from last year, Somehow they got misplaced and we couldnt find them  Maybe they will turn up next year when it is time     Thanks for letting me rant    Peace and Light   Andy

P.S.  Next Years Tree will include a all PINK TREE

I realize this post is a little old but I wanted to thank you anyway, I have been lookinf for a way to make a tool and try Quilling, I know a bit about it but not enout to invest a lot of money into tool for something I am not sure I am going to like or be able to do  Now I am like well Duh!! Why didn't I think of that?  I used a rotery cutter and a quilters cutting board and ruler to cut my paper into 1/8 inch Strops  works wonderful    Again Thanks for the tip

Hi I am ANdy I am New here but wanted to say Thanks for sharing the 3D Origami Star, I am going to have to add this to my favorites and make some with my Nephew Next Christmas  I always enjoy making home mae ornaments for the Christmas Tree perhaps a throw back from my childhood, This year I decided to do a White Tree with Black and Silver decorations it actually turned out very pretty, I got several compliments about it  (not braging)  But finding Black ornament was harder than I thought it would be, I have seen afew Last year but dont know what I was thinking   LOL  so I ended up making quite a few of then and they did turn out very Nicely if I do say so myself,   I'll post a Pic as soon as I can if you would like to see, anyway I think these as Ornaments would be a very nice addition to next years display, I plan on doing a all PINK tree next year too  I am Christmas Crazy
