This is adorable. I love the shape of the bottom. I noticed it and thought "that is so cool" even before I read your question about it. Definitely keep it that way...very unique.

I just picked up a pretty good old Singer at a second hand shop for $30. You never know!
As for the buttons...depending on how many you have, I think they'd look cute just spaced evenly across the top ribbon.
