1  Accordian collar shirt-skirt two piece into knee length dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nom_de_plume on: August 17, 2011 06:43:06 PM
So I forgot to take pictures of the "before", but since you all are craftsters, I'm sure your imaginations can get the gist of it and I can just show you the "after" (which is the best part anyways, right?)

Basically the top was a puffed long sleeve disaster. Who adds huge puffed sleeves to compete with an already awesome accordian collar?! It reminded me of something out of Big Love, complete with a high waisted ankle length skirt. I found the set at a garage sale for two dollars and fell in love with the interesting collar...so I  altered and combined the two pieces to make a dress! It's kind of 1950s June Cleaver, no?

So the construction bizzare, but I'm really pleased with how it looks. I may add some darts to the back but overall, I think I'm ready to wear this baby out to a tea party, or some other gathering of good people.

Comments and critiques welcome!

2  Reginasaurus, Folding Chairs, Bacon=vegetable (pic heavy) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by nom_de_plume on: August 25, 2009 03:13:57 PM
I accidentally posted this in the general image reproduction techniques page. Oops! If a mod wants to take it down from there...go right ahead! Sorry for my mistake Sad

I'm a HUGE Regina Spektor fan and my friend had an extra ticket to her concert so OF COURSE I said yes and OF COURSE I made t-shirts for us Smiley (If you are said friend, leave now!) Both are quotes from Regina Spektor songs.

I used freezer paper, my exacto knife, fabric paint and shirts from Good Will Cheesy

With Me in it:

Folding Chair (the shirt's more yellow in real life):

With me in it:

And here's a shirt I made a while back. I stole the shirt from Diesel Sweeties after I found out about the hilarious Baco-vegetarian movement (because who can resist bacon?!)

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results. The lettering was a lot of work, but it turned out fabulous! The images....not so much. A little bleeding but nothing too horrible not to wear the shirts! They're my largest efforts for freezer paper stenciling thus far so I'm a pretty proud crafter Smiley

3  Harry Potter and I (well, not really...) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by nom_de_plume on: July 02, 2009 07:22:29 PM
In honor of the new Harry Potter film coming out, I'll share a piece I drew over two years ago (crazy as it is, I feel a lot older) It's not nearly as polished as the stuff most of the crafters here show, but I'm pretty proud.

It's made of charcoal. (Ron's a bit pasty due to the flash.)

Here's some more recent stuff. They're both sketches I made of myself for my graduation party. (Not nearly as extensively done as HP) I had this grand idea of a whole wall of quick sketches...but stopped at two :p

Yes, I had sass when I was a youngin'

(I couldn't figure out how to rotate it. It's amazing I even graduated.....)

And here I am as the happy grad! (I'm on the left)

4  Dead Man Sleeping in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nom_de_plume on: July 02, 2009 05:29:52 PM
My friend gave me the great idea of using magazine clippings for earrings! I was flipping through a National Geographic (my mom would kill me if she had seen I had taken scissors to her NG) and I got a devious idea..... the result is this pair of creepy earrings! Cheesy

Oh, and the metal is bent paperclip!

So I don't know about any of you other craftsters, but I LOVE Ruffeo Hearts Lil Snotty. When I found a spaceman hoodie tutorial on threadbanger I just had to do it!! I took three old sweatshirts and voila! Link to the tute: http://www.threadbanger.com/episode/THR_20090123

(I had just gone to the eye doctor...I thought the shades added a nice touch  Grin)

6  Made of Bricks and The Cheese to My Macaroni in Completed Projects by nom_de_plume on: June 07, 2008 06:54:53 PM
For my friend's birthday I...burned her some cds she wanted (yes, I'm cheap) but to spice them up, I decorated them! They came with cd covers too but I forgot to take pictures:

Juno! I love that illustration (as well as the movie):

Kate Nash. Her thick cockney (?) accent is adorable. Catchy stuff tooooo...

Simple stuff, but I love decorating CDs.
Does anyone know how to put these flickr links as photos on craftster? Thanks for your help and comments!

7  Dragons, Dreams & Daring Deeds in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by nom_de_plume on: June 07, 2008 06:45:01 PM
I'm so proud of this! This shirt is my first wearable recon, and it was all thanks to the inspiration I got at craftster (and there's a tute somewhere for the cinched bust here). And since the weather's FINALLY getting warm, I'll be able to wear it!

Before: (no picture) Large Men's T-shirt I was about to throw away.

Me Proudly Modeling:

Close up of the Graphic which reads "Dragons, Dreams & Daring Deeds". Yes, I'm very dorky.  Tongue:

:-D I'm really happy with it and plan to wear it all the time this summer!
If anyone knows how to post these flickr links as pictures on craftster, let me know!

8  My First Shrinky Dink Jewelry- Cityscape and HANNAH MONTANA! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by nom_de_plume on: March 22, 2008 08:41:58 PM
For Christmas I got some shrinky dink Ruff'N'Ready paper. And as ashamed as I am to say it, I just whipped it out this last month. It's totally addicting though. Definitely going to experiment more!

So here's the stuff I've created and because I'm computer illiterate I'll give you guys the links and hope they work:
No 1: City Scape Bracelet. I was inspired by iloveblocks.com

and a Hannah Montana Necklace for my friend who's obsessed :-D

I had a hard time cutting the Hannah Montana necklace because I don't have an exacto knife. Ouch. And I did experience a little bleeding with the markers in the bracelet but all in all, I love it!

9  First polyclay post: food, whales, dinos (pic heavy) in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by nom_de_plume on: February 09, 2008 05:01:24 PM
My first thread on Craftster! Cheesy Yay! I'll skip the lurker stuff since we all know that craftster is amazing and we've all been a little afraid to post for the first time (ok, this might only be me...)
I've gotten into polymer clay soley because of craftster, and it's a total blast!

Some more mini food for you guys!:

One piece is missing because I gave it to my friend for her birthday.

Some blurry whales :-)

A set of Dinos that were inspired by a fellow craftster

And here's all of them on my Raisin Nut Bran earring holder!

I've actually made a lot more stuff (I get in these phases where I craft for days on end) but I've given most of them in the shape of earrings/necklaces to my friends.

These pictures are kind of tiny (I think) but I don't know how to make them look any larger. If anyone could help, that would be great. Thanks for welcoming me into your wonderful community!
