1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / A fiddler crab on the roof? Sounds crazy, no? on: October 31, 2013 11:38:31 PM
So backstory - I have a friend who gets crafted sea creatures from me every birthday. Not because she like sea creatures particularly, but because I kind of love squids and octopi. Previous presents have been a squid hat, crochet octopus, plushie octopus etc. So i decided this would be a cephalopod free year.
Found this amazing fiddler crab pattern on deliciouscrochet.com and, being Jewish and a massive fan of musicals, decided the only place a fiddler crab could possibly live is on a roof. And so it was.

Note - said friend has no love for musicals and isn't Jewish, so the joke took a little while to land.
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Gigantic Yubaba - almost done! on: August 27, 2011 08:31:15 PM
Thanks guys! Cheesy
Not entirely sure what i'll do with her once she's done - i think i'll probably just try to frame her and hang her on a wall to terrify all and sundry
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Gigantic Yubaba UPDATED - Done! :D on: August 27, 2011 07:33:12 AM
So Yubaba is done, framed and hanging on a wall! Thought I'd just update the post with making-of and final pictures

Source picture

Half-way done

Cut out and ready to be framed

Aaaand, finally, framed!

I'm not totally crazy about the frame, but I got it from a thrift store and it was the only one big enough Tongue

----Old post-----

So this is my cross stitched Yubaba, with my glasses next to her for scale.

Took me maybe 6 months (I kinda lost track, honestly) - pattern made with macstitch, done on 18 count aida, a labour of love and moderate (who am I kidding moderate...) obsession.

All that remains is to somehow join the pieces (i may have stepped on her while half done - mornings and me don't get along so well) and mount her on black fabric, then she's donesies! Cheesy
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Kitchen Cooking Mamas on: May 04, 2011 01:22:53 AM
Cooking mamas!

These are sitting at above my kitchen table - they were going to go above the stove, but it seemed a tad perilous.

Close ups! (please excuse the dodgy framing job - it's just thin coloured cardboard and it's warped a fair bit since i did it)

'Terfi! Even better than mama!'

Firehands McGee Mama

Each Mama is about A4 sized and made from a pattern I made using PC Stitch. It took longer than I like to think about, but I love the way they turned out!
