11  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / the derpy dawgs quilt on: December 08, 2016 07:30:18 PM
My friend Sara wanted a quilt for her mom. And she wanted dogs. But not dog dogs... derpy dogs. She selected the fabrics. I just put them together. Wink

it is a mad riot of colour. And I kinda loathe applique. But it does make me smile. There are tons of sentimental fabrics chosen to.represent her and her brother and childhood memories.

And she loves it.
12  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Marley quilt based off Jeff the Pig on: December 08, 2016 07:25:11 PM
This was made for a friend I work with. Her wee babe was born mid Nov, we had made a barter deal.... mid century modern telephone table for baby quilt.

They are modernly traditional and she was gravitating to triangle patterns so I went with this paper pieced block inspired by Bob Marley's three little birds.... and quite frankly. That is absolutely a message I want to sew into a baby quilt.

The nursery has a large painting of a pig that we called Jeff. Colours were inspired from there.

when asked if they wanted a white, black or grey background. Her hubby said... med grey. Babies are dirty. Smiley  backed with Toronto Blue Jays fabric. They are huge ball fans.
13  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / modern-ish log cabin-ish purple-ish on: October 10, 2016 07:35:44 PM
Made for a friend I worked with last summer.

She selected colours and pattern. A huge departure for me. But I really love the final project.

And i got to use my brand new labels. Designed and swapped by sheepBlue.

14  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / ravens-two for mirth on: August 29, 2016 04:44:09 PM
This summer's IYP I partnered.with sheepBlue. She likes ravens and mentioned she could use some outdoor decoration. My glass skillz are a bit rusty. But black lines hide my soldering weakness. It is sealed against weather.

to.show the iridescent bird glass.
15  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / harry potter bookcase quilt (adapted) on: August 29, 2016 04:36:54 PM
I made this.   From here...http://www.fandominstitches.com/2015/07/harry-potter-bookcase-quilt-along.html?m=1

It's a partial cause it was a swap item. And summer is only so long...

I made this. And I'm still a bit in shock.

This is it in its new home with sheepBlue.  Smiley
16  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Craftster Canada Meetup. International pillow. on: June 27, 2016 06:05:03 AM
There was an amazing group of international craftsters who met up this past weekend to make messes and memories.

We made gifts for one another and selected white elephant style. This was my contribution.

17  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / That explains it! baby quilt on: May 25, 2016 09:35:52 AM
A friend asked me for ideas about a baby quilt. Along the themes of aliens, Loch Ness, sasquatch that sort of thing.

I offered up a bunch of rough sketch outlines and this is the one that got settled on. The original idea is not mine. But I cannot find the pic that inspired me. Bad crafter.

This one had a moment. Where I almost took the scissors to it. After it was done.

Now I'm glad I didn't and I popped it in the mail today
18  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Mandarin in Garlic on: April 19, 2016 08:23:01 AM
Yesterday a friend  posted on picture of a garlic bulb with a slice of Mandarin orange in place of one clove. The caption read 'just because you fit, doesn't mean you belong' and it had to be the name of this scrappy trip around  the world quilt.
Half the blocks came from the swap and half were picked by my lads. The one block just doesn't blend. So I figured it's best to highlight it. And hence the name.
19  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / the 'redeemer' quilt on: April 18, 2016 08:34:35 AM
Friday I made a pieced pillow. I did the math. I sketched it out, it looked fine. So I cut and sewed. And it was a total fail. I have no idea why it didn't translate. But it didn't. And no, I'm no being overly critical. It was just bad.

So I was sulking in my sewing room and decided I couldn't go to bed mad at fabric so I decided I needed something quick and get me out of it. I had picked up a few solid charm packs a couple years ago for something and have been scavenging them since. I had some one inch white strips pre cut from another project that didn't need as many as I cut. So I figured I'd smoosh them together.

I manage to get the strips done before bed an wasn't mad at my sewing room. When I got home from work Saturday afternoon, I set up on the deck for the first "spring" day in ontario. Grabbed the beer and finished it.

And I love it. And it told me where it wanted to go live so I even got to be the quilt fairy this weekend. Smiley the recipient was super happy

It's not ripply, it's just not laid out carefully. Wink

This... this is the life.
20  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / I Want To Believe on: April 03, 2016 06:55:54 PM
Fandom in Stitches pattern from The X-Files quilt along.

I've been waiting for this pattern since I saw the quilt along posted. Last night while cruising for Superhero patterns I looked up this one. And Yay!

Printed off last night and selected fabrics, headed to the slothcave about 11 this morning. Smiley had th top done about 4. Went to mom and dads for dinner. Came home basted quilted and bound.

Hung it during the second commercial break of The Walking Dead.

I LOVE THIS MINI!
