1291  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Father's Day/ (Late) Birthday/ (Late) Christmas gift for Dad on: June 11, 2008 05:48:49 PM
Beautiful!  I love the two blues with the white - very clean looking and gender neutral.

Very cool!  I love this.  One of these days I'll make me a quilt.  I just really like all the more "instant gratification" projects I normally do, like bags adn kids' clothing . . . Hmmm . . . I guess I'll have to get more patient . . .

I love the pattern and color of yours.  It's going into my bookmarked quilts that I'm storing up to give me ideas of what I want to do if/when I ever take the plunge!!!

Neat!  I think your Dad will love it; it's an unusual homage to his interests and work (did you actually use the same number of beads as there are buttons on those outfits?  Looks like it!).

Ha! Cheesy  No - I didn't count.  Just wanted to put the buttons to the approximately right place on the coat.  But, since I didn't count, could be that they are the same!

Thanks all for the nice comments!

Thanks! Grin

Yes, the faces are staying blank - I experimented a bit with sewing a face on, but I didn't like how it came out, and I kind of like the blank faces.

I'm excited to see what my dad thinks of it!

Okay, so my family has done colonial reenactment since I was little, and my parents are still involved.  They recently made these outfits for a British officer and his wife:

So I made this small wall hanging (it's not completely done in this pic - I still hadn't quilted or bound it - just did sticth in the ditch for quilting and used black quilt binding around the edges):

Close ups of some details:

This was all an experiment, so I'm pretty pleased with how it came out!  I pieced the background, and then appliqued felt on for the people.

Thanks for looking! Grin
1296  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Shorts and such for my little guy on: June 06, 2008 01:34:43 PM
Very cool!  I love making lots of quick and easy stuff, too - I've recently reconned a bunch of my old rib knit tanks into skirts for my 2yo dd - easiest projects EVER!!

Those shorts look great, and I love the matching appliques on the tees - very nice job!

(and I agree - cute projects trump a clean house, any day! Wink)
1297  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: New bag on: June 03, 2008 05:35:00 AM
I really like it - esp the way it goes in at teh top and also has the handle fabric on the outside of the bag.  Very cute!

Totally cute!  I love how bright it is with that pieced border!  Excellent work.

Good apple!  CAn't wait to see the ones you cut A-line to see what the difference works out to be!

That's really cool!  Is your photo-fabric sheet stuff waterproof?  I recently bought some, but was disappointed to read that the photos will likely run if they get wet - I figured I can't really use it for much unless I get some of that iron-on vinyl to put over it, ya know?

If yours is waterproof (or if you treated it so it is), can you share the brand (or the waterproofing stuff)?

Thanks!
