1  Re: Bow ties are cool . . . . in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Padester on: May 09, 2017 06:38:39 PM
Thanks!

and here is a picture of (almost) all the others I have made - one with bicycles on it escaped the picture somehow . . . .

My hubby has claimed the coffee one, but the others will be headed to a local store! I figure if they don't sell, I know lots of guys who might be persuaded to wear a funky bow tie at some point!  Grin

2  Bow ties are cool . . . . in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Padester on: May 08, 2017 08:55:54 AM
So my hubby and I went to a Derby Day party yesterday, and the hubster decided he needed a bow tie. What's a girl to do other than make one (or several)?

Here is the one he wore to the party:

And here is the other one I made, 'cuz if you're cutting fabric anyway, might as well make two, right?

This picture was taken before we figured out how to tighten the knot properly . . .

I then made three more, because they are fun and easy - a Star Wars one, a Batman one and a Dr. Who (of course!). I don't have pics of them now, but they are cool and quirky and really fun to make! I have about 7 others cut out and waiting to be sewn up . . . . I'm on a roll!

here is where I found the pattern:

3  First amigurumi (not counting baby owls) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Padester on: February 18, 2017 01:27:14 PM
I got the pattern for this cutie pie on Ravelry.com - it's a free download, and is pretty easy to follow!

No flash

With flash:

The one without flash is truer to the actual colors. He was a fun little guy to make, and I have had requests from my daughter and husband(!) for more!

I should say that I'm not counting my baby owls because they are really just spheres that are stitched across the top to create ear-looking points . . . not much involved in them, cute as they are!

4  Car trash bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Padester on: February 05, 2017 04:20:38 PM
So I have been wanting something more efficient for my car's trash than I had been using.

I wound up just kind of winging it - I made a couple of squares 13"x13" and used some store-bought binding sewn into the seams for the straps. I also used some 1/4" nylon boning to hold the top open. Here it is with a plastic grocery bag liner.

This is what it replaced:

I may try to lengthen the straps so that the bag can sit a little lower in the car, but I am pleased with how it turned out overall! Grin

5  Re: Pussy Hats for The Women's March on Washington D.C and Elsewhere w/mini TUT in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Padester on: January 16, 2017 02:53:27 PM
These are great! I did similar, but turned up a lot more and only stitched up the side seams to keep the hem in place. Here are my versions!

Plain pink

Tie Dye

And me modeling!

Not going to the march, but I made 23 of these from the fleece I bought and some white felt in my stash. Gave all of them away to people going to the march!

6  Re: 2017 DeStash Along in Craftalongs by Padester on: January 09, 2017 08:58:57 AM
Okay - so I made something for month one!

It is for me, it has white and it is striped - so I actually hit three of the criteria! Yay me! Oh - and totally from stash, so yay again!

Here is my de-stash-along hat! (Altoids tin for scale)

7  Baby booties and sandals - anyone want them?? GONE!! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Padester on: December 13, 2016 04:31:15 PM
Hi all!

So - I branched out in my crocheting to make these cute (in my opinion) footwear options for the younger set. I did this because I met this guy at a craft show who said he was organizing a baby shower web site and wanted someone to make baby booties for the site. I made a couple to get a feel for them and to decide on what I would charge, etc, and then called him. NO RESPONSE.  Angry

So - since I don't have a baby these days, nor do I know anyone with feet this tiny (0-3 month size), NOR do I really want to add a new section to my Etsy site, I decided I would do a giveaway for anyone who has a human with small enough feet to benefit! Just PM me your address and I'll stick them in the mail to you . . . when I can get in and out without waiting forever, which may take a while, given the season! Roll Eyes

EDITED TO ADD: THEY ARE GONE! One of my co-workers has a pregnant friend, so they are going to a good home to keep teeny feet warm!

Anyhow - here they are:

The sandals (my fave):

And being held (for size reference):

The booties:

Being held:

The booties are made of a yarn that is 20%wool, 80% acryllic.  The sandal footbed is made of the same kind of yarn, while the straps are 100% Acryllic.

For allergy info, I have cats who really like getting into my yarn, so no promises of fur-free items.

Thanks for looking! Grin

8  More hats! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Padester on: December 03, 2016 05:38:00 PM
So - here are more hats I've been making - I LOVE this yarn - it's called Caron cakes, and it is a variegated yarn that is self-striping. It is great to work with - not amazingly soft, but soft enough and it has a good amount of give to it so it's easy to get the tension correct.

Just going to post a bunch of pictures - hope you like them!

I have another Caron cake in shades of purple and violet - I am looking forward to using that one, too, but am undecided if I want to make these long hats or something else . . . If anyone has a suggestion for something fantastic (and relatively easy) to make from this yarn, please let me know! I'm up for trying something new!  Cheesy

And then here are some hats made with other yarns - this one is just made from cotton yarn

And this is a mix of the Bernat Baby Blanket yarn (the white) and another bulky yarn I got from Amazon - not great to the touch, but I like how it looks:

And finally - because 'tis the season - a double-tailed santa hat!  I found the inspiration for it on this board a while ago, and bought the pattern on Etsy. I just love this hat for the holidays! It's in my Etsy shop at the moment, but I may just claim it for myself in the near future, so I have a fun hat to wear!:

Thanks for looking! I have gotten into crocheting in a big way lately and have been neglecting my sewing . . . will need to get back to that in the near future!  Grin

9  A few odds and ends in Crochet: Completed Projects by Padester on: December 03, 2016 05:24:35 PM
Just posting a few things I've been working on lately that don't fall into an easy category!

Skull bags:

I got the idea for the skulls from this craftster post, which has the skull pattern as well as a link to the flower pattern:

Kitty can koozie!

This one I just winged. It was fun making it a calico pattern! Smiley

Thanks for looking!

10  Crocheted hats and scarves for the winter! (Pic heavy) in Crochet: Completed Projects by Padester on: December 03, 2016 05:19:34 PM
I have been crocheting bunches of things, but have gotten lazy about posting, so here are several things I've recently made!

Cream hat and scarf - the flower on the hat is actually a pin, so it can come off and be placed elsewhere

Simple Camo hat:

Double-tailed hat in blue and white:

Long blue and white hat:

Long rainbow stocking cap:

Candy-cane hat with red brim and red scarf with candy-cane trim

Red hat with candy-cane trim and candy-cane scarf

All of these other than the camo hat were made from Bernat baby blanket yarn - it is SOOO soft and works up so quickly, I love working with it and love how it came out!

Thanks for looking! Let me know if you have any questions!
