321  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / My newest dress for my gals, no pattern necessary. on: September 22, 2008 10:07:03 AM
I really haven't been making dresses that long but I have the basics down. I created this dress for my 16 month old but it's a bit big. I didn't really measure or anything which was probably part of the problem LOL I'm the kind that just starts cutting...

anyway, the photos came out a little blury and not so sharp but I think you can see what the dress looks like and how it came out. I did snaps on the back for the very first time!
Yeah me! I lined the bodice part with the same yellowy orange as the tiger and used a green with blue small dots from Amy Butler as the bodice and accent on the skirt. I like the print a lot and didn't want to take away from it with too many frills. I also bought some bright red buttons to go on the shoulders since I changed my mind at the last minute after cutting and sewing and decided to change how I was going to attach the shoulder parts.

I love this! It's great! I'm gathering up my fabrics right now for this project! I'm going to attempt to do a drawstring waist since I'm in the process of losing weight and want this to last!

Thanks a whole bunch for the idea!
329  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Simplicity pattern 4636 on: November 12, 2007 08:45:25 AM
Ok so this is my first time on Craftster and I couldn't find the right department to post this so I thought pattern review would be good. I made "C" of this pattern the car seat cover since I have an abused car seat and wanted something that would be easy on?off for cleaning and look cute.

I used Amy Butler fabrics so they're a good weight cotton, prewashed/dried and ironed the fabric first and followed the patter to a T untll the end when I pulled my car seat in to try and get this thing on and line up the holes. The pattern doesn't work for an infant seat unless you tweak it which is what I attempted to do here

I added some grosgrain loops on the inside to hook paci's, toys etc The problem was this is NOT made for an infant seat and therefore doesnt' allow for the carry handle. I'm going to attempt this again because it was easy and did come out pretty cute for my front/rear facing toddler seat which dosen't have a handle.

then I made a matching blanket with the scraps

Thanks for peaking! I'm going to try my hand at the "E" shopping cart cover later this week
