401  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: I remember my first skirt and dress. on: October 31, 2004 09:29:00 AM
My first shirt re-construction I did by hand and I tried to make an off-the-shoulder shirt with a tutorial for ohmystars.com (or net or org) I ended up sewing one arm hole the size of a golf ball. Then, on Thursday, I tried to make a pink skirt for my sister out of pink sweatpants and I ended up messing up like, 600 times. I kept forgetting to put the foot-thinger down and the thread would run amok. It was terrible.
We've all had our problems with sewing and I think whatever you or anyone else did wrong, you will hardly ever do again!

405  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: My first fair is coming... on: October 24, 2004 12:08:07 PM
I went to a craft fair/show thinger yesterday and there was a person who had some hemp necklaces up. The way she displayed them made me stop and look at them. To display them, she had taken a piece of white cardboard and put slits where she put the ends of the necklace/bracelet, so they were standing vertical. Then the piece of cardboardwas propped up so you don't have to look down to see them. I think that was a good idea. I hope you understand. I think I used more words than necessary to explain a simple idea.

That is awesomeness in a shirt! I love it.
407  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: Random botches on: October 16, 2004 02:01:31 PM
Ok, my first shirt reconstruction, I hand-sewed an off-the-shoulder shirt. I ended up making the left arm hole the size of a golf ball. I am told my arms are skinny but they are definitely not THAT skinny.
Now, I have a sewing machine so I am going to fix that shirt!

When my mom was a teenager she had thick, waist-length hair.  One day while making a cake, she leaned too close to the bowl & the mixer ripped out a big chunk of hair.

That would be one gross cake.
410  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Thirteenth Birthday - Help! on: October 06, 2004 05:47:14 PM
My little sister is turning 13 in April ( I know, long way off. ) and I wanted to make her something for her birthday. One thing I wanted to make was like a teenage survival kit that has items like " a Baby Bottle Pop because you'll always be my baby sister" and things like that. They make these for Xmas a lot.
I can sew, but not well. But I am quite craft-oriented.
Any suggestions for  "The Survival Kit" or any other ideas for her birthday would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!
