1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Boyfriend's Toga on: October 23, 2010 09:54:43 AM
This is my first post in a long time! I've mainly been knitting and crocheting, but I still sew from time to time. Which brings me to this topic!

This year for Greek week (a week long event sponsored by all the Greek organizations on a college campus, such as Sororities and Fraternities) my boyfriend wanted to wear a toga. Rather than letting him just drape a sheet over himself, I told him I would make him one.

It took a good six hours to make this bad boy and I was happily rewared when he told me he recieved many compliments on how "professional it looked" and many people asked where he got it, to which he replied, "I have an awesome girlfriend, who made it for me!" Awww, he's so sweet!!

The emsemble is made up of the toga, a drap that goes over the shoulder and around the waist, and a cord to tie around the waist.

I made it in black and with gold trim, because his fraternity colours are black and gold.

I only have one pic for now, because my camera was dying.. However, I will take more pics and give a more detailed description of the outfit, if anyone should wish!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Favourite ripple patterns? on: April 25, 2010 08:01:30 PM
Anyone have a particular favourite ripple knitting pattern?

I'm trying to find a variety of patterns and my make a blanket for my sorority sister, who is having a baby, YAY!!
I really wanna make this special for her, because she miscarried her last baby and she's pretty fragile right now..

I kinda like the look of this one, but it may not be baby enough... (of course I will choose baby appropriate colours)

and I like this one..
(I like the all knit on one side and all purl on the reverse)

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / I'm going bananas because I can't find this... for FREE!!! on: April 01, 2010 09:55:52 PM
My dearest Craftsters, please, Please, PLEASE help me find this pattern, for FREE!!

It's gorgeous, isn't it?!?!

Now, I found it here http://sarahlondon.wordpress.com/p-a-t-t-e-r-n-s/
I guess, I'm cheap.. I don't want to spend the money to purchase it... Embarrassed

The closest I could find is this, http://funkyhooker.blogspot.com/2006/04/flower.html , but even that is different. In my preferred flower there is another round, and it just looks nicer...

UGH! I've been at it for about 2 hours, and I think I am just getting cranky Sad

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
I think this would make a wonderful CAL, if I can actually find it!!!

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Afghan for my mummy! on: July 10, 2009 02:50:34 PM
First off.. I have no idea what I was thinking...

Backstory: My grandma gave me allllll this yarn that her friend gave her 10+ years ago... Which 1) SCORE! and 2) what am i going to do with all this? (Just to get an idea of how much.. Imagine two of those large black bags that people use for outdoors FILLED with yarn)

Anyway.. I decided I was going to make my mummy a pretty afghan for her birthday, which btw was yesterday.. YAY MUMMY!

Again.. I have no idea what i was thinking..
I am using a pattern my grandma has been using every since I was very little, probably before that? I'm 20 now.. so who knows.. ?
The jist of the pattern is RIPPLES.. and SINGLE CROCHET...

ICK! It's a lot of crocheting...

BUT it is looking amazing and it will totally be worth it when i give it to my mummy.. (I bought her something else for her birthday since i'm not finished with it yet)

So i've been working for about two weeks on it.. Off and on.. So without further ado..

This is what i have completed so far... My mummy likes browns.. I personally am calling this the "Coffee Afghan" because I don't know what brand of yarn this is or what the colours are called.. So I'm calling the lightest colour "Latte", the next one "Caramel Mochiato", and the last one "Espresso".

and here's a close-up of the amazing effect of the single crotchet and the ripples that i'm absolutely in love with!

Now.. I'm not finished, but I would like to hear anyones thoughts on it..
6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / My very first ami! Bella the Bunny on: July 10, 2009 02:37:33 PM
I'm so excited to have created my very first ami!
Well, not so much created as... COMPLETED!

It's not the most beautimous ami in the world.. but I love it!

I was lovingly inspired by this amazing book: http://www.amazon.com/Kyuuto-Japanese-Crafts-Chronicle-Books/dp/0811860825/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247261276&sr=8-1... Which is... both very nice, and frustrating.. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what kind of yarns this author used.. and to be honest i don't either lol.

But.. pictures!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Help! Amy Butler Market Tote on: May 16, 2009 03:11:06 AM
Hey everyone. I'm interested in making the Market Tote featured in Amy Butler's "Sew-It Kit" but i don't want to spend the $20 to purchase and ship it to myself. (I already own "In-Stitches" and i've read she repeats the same patterns) I was wondering if anyone, by chance, has purchased the book and would possibly scan the directions for me?

Here is a picture of the bag i would like to make:

I would happily exchange/swap/make something for you in return!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need help, please. on: December 25, 2008 11:46:25 PM
I'm not sure I am posting this in the correct forum location... However, i desperately want to learn to knit, but i do not know anyone who actually knits..

So, does anyone know a website or is someone willing to post pictures to help me learn to knit?
I would be eternally grateful.
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cute Retro Tie Bag on: February 24, 2008 09:41:56 AM
First post, please be gentle..

Anyway, so I am taking a sewing class in school and we had a free day to make anything we wanted. Soo... being the loverly female that I am I created a bag. I cut out the fabric and such in school, but I actually made it at home.

Due to the fact that my sewing machine decided to go all wonky on me, I sewed it by hand...

Please gander on..

side-ish view

Nice above view.. look at the pretty tie..

and it has a zipper!

Here it is opened. It's quite spacious inside.. Note: my wallet in there, a bottle of hand sanitizer, and a bottle of lotion... and a cute little bag I made to go along with it..

A close-up of the pretty inside fabric.

I did half pretty fabric and half black..

And here's the little bag I made to match.. Just look how adorable those flowers are :]

and here it is cinched and loaded with goodies..

and here is my cute little bag again!!

well, thanks for looking!
telling me what you think!!
