161  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Santa just doesn't understand the kids these days. on: December 05, 2007 03:58:04 PM

Santa wants the kids these days to think he's cool again!
All their hippity hop, ipodtunephones, and myspaces, he just doesn't understand it!
So in an attempt to regain his coolness in the new young generation, Santa tried out some new hair-dos, & beard-do's.

I drew these with ink on 4 x 6 matte photo paper.  My friend gave me about 100 of them cause she didn't want them anymore, so I just went nuts with 'em.

I drew a lot.

Then I picked my 10 favorites to color!
Sadly, I found out halfway through that my markers were running out. How depressing.  Oh well! I tried to make the best of it.

Alternative Santa.  The background was neon yellow, but my scanner decided it was peach. Sad

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these yet.  I might not do anything with them, I might shove them in my stepsisters/sisters stockings, I might use them as giant TO FROM tags, who knows.
162  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Milton Mittens & Sabrina Star on: December 01, 2007 04:56:08 PM

Two silly plushies I made for a toy show.

I've been meaning to do the bunny with mittens on his ears for foreeeever.
I finally did it!

I sewed the bunny part on the busride back to college from my hometown, haha.
His little outfit & mittens are removable!  I didn't get a picture of him nekkid before I sent him off, sorry!

I am a sucker for the $2-$4 section of fabrics at Joann's. I don't have much money, so they're my best friends.  I found this awesome rainbow stripe stuff for $2!  So fantastic.

Sabrina loves peace, love, happiness, fancy sunglasses & Tootsie Pops.

163  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Self portrait & a greyscale gouache painting !!! on: December 01, 2007 11:38:34 AM

Does this look familiar?
Yeah, it's my avatar picture.   Grin

I felt I had to draw something since I've been only sewing for so long, to make sure my drawing skills hadn't slipped away from me.  I'm pretty happy with how it came out.  It's obviously not completely finished, but I didn't really have the time. =(

This was a homework assignment for my 2D design class.  It had to be a greyscale gouache with at least 10 values, & a cityscape had to be incorporated into it somehow.

I just love how windy hair looks.

Tell me what you think!! Cheesy
164  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAAAM. Four new Drizzles. :D on: November 29, 2007 05:22:49 PM

These dudes were just so much quicker to make than my bears, so I wound up making a lot of new ones for this toy show.
I made a bunch of new flavors 'cause I get bored easily, & I love making new stuff!
I didn't get a picture of one of them, sadly, I sent it off without taking it's picture. =(  It was strawberry & had a cute little cherry on it's head.

Creamsicle

Blueberry... I know that's not a real ice cream flavor... shhh.  That color of blue was too pretty to not use.

Sprinkles.  This one was a bitch.  the sprinkles took forever 'cause I had to keep changing my string color too.

Mint chocolate chip! my favorite flavor.

Here he is with some older ones I posted on here before.

165  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / YOU BE ILLINNNNNN on: November 28, 2007 11:26:33 PM

A homework assignment I just finished for my 2D design class.
We had to pick a song & make ... whatever out of it.

I chose Run DMC- YOU BE ILLIN'

Cheesy

I layered different cardstock colors on the blue cardstock.  Their hats are cardstock too, that I colored around with sharpies.  I inked them on watercolor paper, cut 'em out, cut Darryls hat out, & pasted em on the blue.  The backgrounds colored in with sharpie too.
This was fun.  I'm gonna put it up on my wall once I get it back, or give it to my little sister a Christmas present.

166  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Lots of cute as pie technicolor mini beanies!!! IMG HEAVY on: November 28, 2007 05:24:27 PM
So I've been making these little beanies out of felt/various fabric scraps.
They're only 2-3 inches tall, but I make them in sets of 4-6, giving them themes & things.
They're way fun to make.
I handpainted & handsewn them all!

onto the photos.
These are in order of when I made them. Smiley

167  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do you line a hoodie? on: November 12, 2007 08:57:17 PM
I wanted to take one of the hoodies I already have, & line it with something nice & warm for winter.

Anybody know of any tutorials I could find on how to do this? Or give me a fairly quick explanation of how?

Thanks guys! Cheesy
168  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Handpainted handsewn totally rad mini plushies on: November 10, 2007 04:21:35 PM

So these guys were way fun to make.
They're only 5-7 inches tall, but they're probably the cutest things I've made so far.
Definitely making more of these little dudes soon!

169  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pawesome the Neon Pink Plushie! on: November 07, 2007 10:10:55 PM

My newest plushie!
She's huge. She's about a foot tall, 7 inches wide.  She's getting sent off to a gallery soon.  I made her with felt, polyfil, floral fabric, & a half inch of rice on the bottom to weigh her down.

She makes me smile.

170  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Monsters under the bed collage on: November 02, 2007 12:57:39 PM

I did this for my 2D design class.  I didn't follow the guidelines correctly, but I really wanted a sweet monsters under the bed thing to put up on my wall.

It's pretty big, about 12 x  24, on black bristol.  everything was from magazines except for the starry fabric on the window, the fabric on his bed, & the tentacles I printed out from the internet.

This took me about 4-5 hours to find everything I wanted & arrange it correctly.
woo  yeah here it is:
