1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / May ATCs for the swap on: June 06, 2017 08:35:37 AM
Hello! Its been a long time since I participated in the on-going ATC swap for any length of time. I think I caught the bug again because I really enjoyed doing it in May and I've already claimed two for June. I'm having a blast creating tiny artworks and it's gotten me interested in drawing again.
Here is what I made for May. Pretty sure they have all be received already.
Why is it they always look better when they are at a dramatic angle? LOL

Mexican Loteria cards. I had so much fun with these. I could claim the whole set to make! I wanted the spider to be creepier but it just wouldn't go there. Maybe I'll try a hairy spider next?

Skulls.

Alex the ghost from BBC's Being Human. I miss that show. It was so campy good. I had fun trying to shade this one in blues.

A thoughtful steampunk redhead. My marker bled a huge drop of dark gray on her at the last minute that I tried to fix. Hopefully it's not too noticeable (but now you can't stop staring at it, right?)

A sweet Pop Art treat.

A dark nightscape.

Grayscale with a Pop of Color.

and I made some future backs in both black and white.

Thanks for checking them out. Hopefully I have a chance to make a bunch more for June.  Grin
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / DotD Couple on: May 30, 2017 09:10:34 AM
Making dolls is something not normally in my routine. I am pretty much a purse sewer but I decided to try something different for a personal swap I was in recently. I was inspired by her Pinterest. She had some really cute DotD dolls on there. Admittedly, mine are not nearly as cute, but I tried to give her something unique and fun.
I made up the pattern. It was a simple one. Then I proceeded to paint them with layers and layers of paint to give them an old time feel. There are some dark brown underlayers to give them an interesting look if they do get squeezed and cracked. They are 6" tall.
 Here is the happy couple.

 And the lady.

I included hidden Mickeys on her skirt. At least that is what those are supposed to be. I guess not so hidden. I gave her a half sleeve of skulls on one side.

I accidentally painted her undies over her tights.  Tongue  She dances to the beat of her own drum I guess. Sorry for teh up-skirt shot.

And here is the dapper dude. I have to admit he was my favorite of the two. I really liked his spider nose.  Cheesy

Thanks for checking them out!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Necklace Swap on: May 19, 2017 07:12:44 AM

Hey! I was getting ready for work this morning and I was looking over my necklaces and realized most of what I wear I got from my Craftster friends. I also realized I need more!  Grin
I was hoping to start a swap for necklaces mid-June. Would anyone else be interested? I was hoping we could do this in a multi-partner format where we each get two or three partners and send one necklace to each. That way we get a wide variety. You can do beaded, pendants, whatever your style.
Let me know and if there is interest I will start working on the questionnaire!  Cool
Fingers crossed cas really want to do this!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Ghastly Moth Snowdrop Satchel on: May 10, 2017 01:43:41 PM

I hope MissingWillow doesn't mind that I snagged her pics, they were better than mine.  Tongue  I made this purse for her in the Common Grounds swap. We both loved this fabric. I had some in my stash, I actually had the gray hounds tooth too. I thought it paired well.
The inside has a pocket but it's mainly a huge space to put whatever you could dream of. It seemed so huge after I finished it! LOL!

The rest are my pics and I take full responsibilty for the dirty house. I was crafting.  Cheesy
It was only my second time using the vinyl fabric on a purse. There was a lot more on this than the last one. The first time I did the strap it tended to twist. And if it wasn't for the walking foot this would have never happened! Oh my! But it was a lot of fun to learn something new.
The sides are held together with a pink tie. Same color as the interior.

And it has cute little purse feet. My first time doing purse feet!! Or sewing with foam for that matter. Wink   This really was an experimental purse for me. I had to get glue for the vinyl and get the little clips to hold it. Very different. I was scared the glue was going to gunk up my machine but seemed to dry well.

 Thanks for checking it out!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Dragonfly Beaded Bracelet on: May 09, 2017 05:45:08 AM
This is my first time on this board! I never thought I would post here because beading looked so hard, and it was. LOL! I made this a while ago for Bunny1kenobi for her Christmas present. I figured she has seen everything in my bag o' tricks by now and I wanted to surprise her with something 100% unexpected. I bought this kit and got to work. I quickly realized I am now old. All those little beads killed my eyes. I am also the worlds slowest beader. This took me forever but it was worth it.
Bunny1 likes dragonflies so I found this kit. I wanted to make sure it had shimmer and was basic beading and not peyote. I am not ready for peyote yet! I love the way it looks and envy it so much but it also intimidates the life out of me.
 Here is the finished bracelet.

I added a small "thank you" charm to say thanks to her for being such a great friend.

I added a connector chain, I think that is what its called.

Finishing it up really stressed me because I never got the starting part right so about 3/4 of the way thru I started stressing that I wouldn't have enough left over strings to make the loop. I went on Etsy and found these neat slide on claps that did the trick and eased my mind.
This was how I kept track of what I was doing. I would put the beads on 5 at a time. I am sure there is a much easier way but I'm a complete novice.

Thanks for checking it out! I was so proud that I made this and excited to send it to Bunny1kenobi. She says she really likes it.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Zip-To-It Tattoo Bag on: May 04, 2017 07:18:01 AM
Here is another purse that I forgot to post. I made it for Bunny1kenobi for Christmas. The lighting was horrible in the winter at my house so please excuse the terrible photos.

She wanted lots of pockets and compartments but she wanted to keep it slim and a crossbody purse. I thought this pattern fit the bill.
The two main sides pull apart and you have an easy access pocket in the middle with two pockets on each side. Two magnetic snaps hold it in place. And please ignore my messy floors and the cat hair. I have 5 cats, it's impossible.  Roll Eyes

See? I was having to hold her back the entire time I took pics.  Roll Eyes

Each side panel then opens up via a zipper on the top and each of these have a pocket inside.

The strap is adjustable and crossbody style. It also has another zippered pocket on the outside. After I was finished I wished I would have done this zipper in red. Next time! I love this fabric too. Bunny1kenobi picked it out and I happened to already have some on hand. Yay for the stash!

At this point my kitty, Dahlia, was getting mad that the bag was getting attention and she wasn't.  Cheesy
Bunny1 seemed to like it. I hope she does. It was a challenging pattern at first. I think I psyched myself out on it.  Tongue

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Zombie Sheep! on: May 03, 2017 01:54:51 PM
I recently was in a swap with a partner who collects zombie sheep. I thought that sounded really funny and it was so unique and specific I knew I had to make her some. Here is what I came up with. I drew them out then rendered them in Copic markers. I went against my own rule of never drawing hurt animals so I tried to make them cartoonish and still kind of cute. I popped them into some frames for her to have.

Then I wanted to make them into something useful. I like sending somewhat useful items if I can. I know she does swaps and we all need notecards when we send swaps (ironically I forgot to include one to her  Tongue Sorry!).

Thanks for checking them out.  Grin

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Three Purses in Graffica Fabric on: May 03, 2017 12:32:46 PM
I saw this fabric and HAD to have it. It just called to me. I loved the telephone poles and the entire feel of it. I ordered one yard of the main fabric and one yard of the coordinating red bricks. I was shocked at how much I was able to get out of it! Even with some fussing cutting.
First, I made myself another Nottinghill bag SusieDDesigns. I love this bag. I made one for Halloween and just adore how it sits under my arm and fits everything (mainly my Kindle) perfectly. It has a large opening on the top so its easy to find things. Also, the sides expand a little so you dont have to feel like you stuffing it too full. The inside is a nice coordinating gray.

Then with the remaining fabric I decided to make two of the Mini Lilac Messenger bags by BlueCalla. I got both of these made and I still have a bunch of fabric left. I could probably make another one. Like I said, that is with fussing cutting too!

I like this pattern a lot. Its smaller but not too small.  Perfect for a day out when you dont want to lug around your 20 pound purse. It has a slip pocket on the inside and a cute little zippered pocket in the back. I used the focus fabric in the pocket but forgot to get a picture of that.

The strap is adjustable for comfort. I chose different places on the fabric for the flap to give each a unique look. I raffled the telephone pole one away in the Nerd Games and I plan to offer up the street sign one in a shop for the Fall STS.

Thanks for checking them out. I am still shocked at how much I was able to get out of two yards of fabric (minus the interior fabric but we all know that doesnt count. Tongue LOL! )
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cupcakery Fold Over Clutch on: April 07, 2017 01:02:00 PM
I found the free pattern by Swoon called the Heidi Fold over clutch and decided I would give it a whirl as my first time sewing vinyl. I used all stash fabric except for the vinyl and was so excited to find the dark reddish vinyl that worked so well with the fabric I had on hand.

The vinyl was softer than I thought and was pretty easy to work with. I used a walking foot with it, again a first. I am glad I tried something new as this opens up a whole new crop of bags to sew now. Wink  I know I still need work with the new material but overall it was fun.
The pattern was pretty basic and straight forward. I have the hardware to make one more. This one is going to go into my STS store in the Fall.
The purse unfolds via a magnetic clasp. The top has a zipper so you can store larger items.

It also has a handy zipper on the back for quicker access to smaller items.

In the end I really liked this design. The wristlet also unhooks to use it as a clutch. This was the larger version on the pattern.
Thanks for checking it out! Grin Grin Grin
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Steampunk and Oval Girl ATCs on: March 17, 2017 05:47:06 AM

Hey there! It's been a long time since I made ATCs and posted them up. Life got really busy and I started sewing more instead of drawing.
I offered up two custom ATC's as prizes in the Games so I made these two. The themes were Steampunk and Oval frames. I ended up really enjoying drawing again. I have plans to make a couple more when time allows.
These were done with Copic markers, a white gel pen, and Bristol board.

Thanks so much for checking them out. I haven't been on this board in a while and the art is incredible. I need to come back and comment when I get off work. Lots of inspiration!
