My thoughts exactly! Sometimes I read the prompts and think one way and then someone turns something in and interprets it in a completely different direction. The prompts have pushed me to think outside the box more and that is always a good thing.  Wink I find fitting a prompt can be just as creative as the piece you make for it.

Smart. You must have had your fill of zombie brains today. Tongue LOL! Always love reading your tracking updates though. Something to look forward too tomorrow.  Grin

Love it and I love all the fussy cutting and fabric placements. Looks amazing!
1394  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: First Ever painted Quilt for Dad (pic heavy) on: April 01, 2015 09:25:40 AM
Thin layers of Acrylic that I ironed in to the fabric between washes. I have done that before and as long as you don't get too thick with it then it will stay well.
And thanks for the compliments! It was daunting. I thought I was never going to make the Christmas deadline but was so proud when I gave it to him.  Grin

I love everything about this bag! Its fantastic and good for you to finally make something for yourself. I never finish "me" projects.  Tongue
1396  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First Ever painted Quilt for Dad (pic heavy) on: April 01, 2015 07:31:31 AM
My Dad is the hardest man on Earth to shop for. Every Christmas the entire family freaks out and complains about it. Last year I decided to make him a quilt since he always says he is cold. At the time I had no idea what I was getting into. I had never quilted anything successfully before.
I wanted to make it personal for him so each block was either something about him or a family member. Problem was, I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. I had the hardest time getting just the right fabrics. I had no idea a simple beagle or Chihuahua was going to be a headache to find. In the end I decided to paint the squares that I couldn't find. Also, a non cartoon alien or bigfoot is nearly impossible to find too.  Tongue

Another impossibility is getting a picture of my Dad that his dog isn't photobombing. LOL!
Here is a pic without the boarder done yet.

Here is a shot of some of the individual squares I painted

and here are some shots of the individual blocks.
,
My sisters block had her dog and The Wizard of Oz on it.

And here are blocks of his beloved dog and the cat

I know it is a super simple design but for my first quilt I was completely overwhelmed.  Tongue I had no idea it was going to be so much work and I was on a deadline for Christmas. I am happy to say I got it done. Sorry for taking so long to post up!
1397  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Cloud Light on: April 01, 2015 07:05:26 AM
I have been on this huge kick since my divorce on redecorating my house and making it mine, finally.  Wink I wanted to add some whim and quirkiness to it. I have an extra room now that I am hoping to turn into a multifunctional office/guest room/reading room. I have seen these on Pinterest for a while but I thought that they looked hard to make. Not sure why. Huh It was super easy. I have to admit it looks a lot better in a photograph than it does in person. With the lights on it just looks like a big piece of fluff hanging there. Undecided I was thinking if I made a couple more and had some other things around it (hot air balloon, birds, etc) it would look better.
Here is my little cloud hanging in the shower for now. I have to decide where I want to hang it up....

and here it is all lit up. I used tiny LED lights and I am thinking of getting one that flashes to give it more of a storm cloud feel.

I took a bunch of dark shots because it was turning and each angle looked a bit different to me.

I have ideas set for all of them but one and it's one that I can just make something and figure it out later.  Tongue So far so good! Now I have to start working.  Grin
1399  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Craft for my garden/outdoors on: March 31, 2015 11:43:44 AM
I have declared this year to be the year I tame the garden that came along with the house I bought. I had NO idea they took that much work but now I am hooked on the idea of making it mine. I plan to make some fairy garden items and this would fit right in!
