21  Ghastly Moth Snowdrop Satchel in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: May 10, 2017 01:43:41 PM

I hope MissingWillow doesn't mind that I snagged her pics, they were better than mine.  Tongue  I made this purse for her in the Common Grounds swap. We both loved this fabric. I had some in my stash, I actually had the gray hounds tooth too. I thought it paired well.
The inside has a pocket but it's mainly a huge space to put whatever you could dream of. It seemed so huge after I finished it! LOL!

The rest are my pics and I take full responsibilty for the dirty house. I was crafting.  Cheesy
It was only my second time using the vinyl fabric on a purse. There was a lot more on this than the last one. The first time I did the strap it tended to twist. And if it wasn't for the walking foot this would have never happened! Oh my! But it was a lot of fun to learn something new.
The sides are held together with a pink tie. Same color as the interior.

And it has cute little purse feet. My first time doing purse feet!! Or sewing with foam for that matter. Wink   This really was an experimental purse for me. I had to get glue for the vinyl and get the little clips to hold it. Very different. I was scared the glue was going to gunk up my machine but seemed to dry well.

 Thanks for checking it out!

22  Dragonfly Beaded Bracelet in Beads: Completed Projects by gozer on: May 09, 2017 05:45:08 AM
This is my first time on this board! I never thought I would post here because beading looked so hard, and it was. LOL! I made this a while ago for Bunny1kenobi for her Christmas present. I figured she has seen everything in my bag o' tricks by now and I wanted to surprise her with something 100% unexpected. I bought this kit and got to work. I quickly realized I am now old. All those little beads killed my eyes. I am also the worlds slowest beader. This took me forever but it was worth it.
Bunny1 likes dragonflies so I found this kit. I wanted to make sure it had shimmer and was basic beading and not peyote. I am not ready for peyote yet! I love the way it looks and envy it so much but it also intimidates the life out of me.
 Here is the finished bracelet.

I added a small "thank you" charm to say thanks to her for being such a great friend.

I added a connector chain, I think that is what its called.

Finishing it up really stressed me because I never got the starting part right so about 3/4 of the way thru I started stressing that I wouldn't have enough left over strings to make the loop. I went on Etsy and found these neat slide on claps that did the trick and eased my mind.
This was how I kept track of what I was doing. I would put the beads on 5 at a time. I am sure there is a much easier way but I'm a complete novice.

Thanks for checking it out! I was so proud that I made this and excited to send it to Bunny1kenobi. She says she really likes it.

23  Zip-To-It Tattoo Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: May 04, 2017 07:18:01 AM
Here is another purse that I forgot to post. I made it for Bunny1kenobi for Christmas. The lighting was horrible in the winter at my house so please excuse the terrible photos.

She wanted lots of pockets and compartments but she wanted to keep it slim and a crossbody purse. I thought this pattern fit the bill.
The two main sides pull apart and you have an easy access pocket in the middle with two pockets on each side. Two magnetic snaps hold it in place. And please ignore my messy floors and the cat hair. I have 5 cats, it's impossible.  Roll Eyes

See? I was having to hold her back the entire time I took pics.  Roll Eyes

Each side panel then opens up via a zipper on the top and each of these have a pocket inside.

The strap is adjustable and crossbody style. It also has another zippered pocket on the outside. After I was finished I wished I would have done this zipper in red. Next time! I love this fabric too. Bunny1kenobi picked it out and I happened to already have some on hand. Yay for the stash!

At this point my kitty, Dahlia, was getting mad that the bag was getting attention and she wasn't.  Cheesy
Bunny1 seemed to like it. I hope she does. It was a challenging pattern at first. I think I psyched myself out on it.  Tongue

24  Zombie Sheep! in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by gozer on: May 03, 2017 01:54:51 PM
I recently was in a swap with a partner who collects zombie sheep. I thought that sounded really funny and it was so unique and specific I knew I had to make her some. Here is what I came up with. I drew them out then rendered them in Copic markers. I went against my own rule of never drawing hurt animals so I tried to make them cartoonish and still kind of cute. I popped them into some frames for her to have.

Then I wanted to make them into something useful. I like sending somewhat useful items if I can. I know she does swaps and we all need notecards when we send swaps (ironically I forgot to include one to her  Tongue Sorry!).

Thanks for checking them out.  Grin

25  Three Purses in Graffica Fabric in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: May 03, 2017 12:32:46 PM
I saw this fabric and HAD to have it. It just called to me. I loved the telephone poles and the entire feel of it. I ordered one yard of the main fabric and one yard of the coordinating red bricks. I was shocked at how much I was able to get out of it! Even with some fussing cutting.
First, I made myself another Nottinghill bag SusieDDesigns. I love this bag. I made one for Halloween and just adore how it sits under my arm and fits everything (mainly my Kindle) perfectly. It has a large opening on the top so its easy to find things. Also, the sides expand a little so you dont have to feel like you stuffing it too full. The inside is a nice coordinating gray.

front

back

Then with the remaining fabric I decided to make two of the Mini Lilac Messenger bags by BlueCalla. I got both of these made and I still have a bunch of fabric left. I could probably make another one. Like I said, that is with fussing cutting too!

I like this pattern a lot. Its smaller but not too small.  Perfect for a day out when you dont want to lug around your 20 pound purse. It has a slip pocket on the inside and a cute little zippered pocket in the back. I used the focus fabric in the pocket but forgot to get a picture of that.

The strap is adjustable for comfort. I chose different places on the fabric for the flap to give each a unique look. I raffled the telephone pole one away in the Nerd Games and I plan to offer up the street sign one in a shop for the Fall STS.

Thanks for checking them out. I am still shocked at how much I was able to get out of two yards of fabric (minus the interior fabric but we all know that doesnt count. Tongue LOL! )

27  Re: Common Ground round 5 GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by gozer on: April 18, 2017 07:30:08 AM
Yay! I get to start the gallery with an amazing package from MissingWillow!!! Prepare to be in awe.  Wink
First, she sent me this adorable little house diorama with ceramic houses she made herself. It's absolutely adorable and looks so sweet on my corner shelf.

Next up, we are both Ghostbusters fans. Not sure how she ever guessed I loved Ghostbusters? LOL! I have three cats named after them (Gozer, Venkman, and Egon). My favorite Ghostbuster is Venkman and I have a bookshelf in my entryway dedicated to him. MissingWillow sent me an amazing tin with a scene from Ghostbusters in it. The chandelier is amazing and hangs down. This sits front and center so you can see it when you first walk in now.  Grin
 Here's a close up...

and here is how great it fits in with the shelf! It's like it was made for it!

We also both love bees. They are my newest obsession. She sent me some AMAZING bee fabric. I love the real looking bees, not the cartoony ones so much. This is absolutely perfect. I am deciding between two patterns on what to make with this.

and last but not least. The item we agreed to swap months ago. I asked her for a Red Riding Hood shrine and boy did she deliver! My living room is decorated in a RRH theme. I LOVE this. It fits so well with my room. Again, a close up and then the shelf it is now living on.  I absolutely LOVE this shrine. It is so perfect. I adore everything about it, down to the little flowers and ladybugs!

Thank you so much MissingWillow! You sent me an incredible package and set the bar high for the rest of the swap!  Grin Grin

I use the Games to keep me motivated because if I didnt have the Games I would be laying on my couch watching TV, snuggling my kitties, and eating chips every night and get nothing accomplished. Project Name: Bailey Surgery Jar
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: My sisters dog, Bailey, needs an operation on her knee. She is okay right now but as she gets older it will be a problem. We, as a family, came together to help her with the bill. I made a jar and we throw our loose change and extra money in it and add to it on her birthday and holidays. It has her dogs name on the front and dog silhouettes on the side. It was my first time using my Silhouette to cut vinyl. I placed it on and alcohol inked around it.

Project Name: Cupcakery Heidi Fold Over Wristlet
Project Link: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=452083.0
Brief Description: This year I had some crafting goals. Sewing with vinyl was one of them and this was my first foray into the material. I got a walking foot and glued it down and did everything I was told and it worked out pretty well I think. I put this under change because when I was married I called my ex Cupcake and got this fabric as a nod to him. I dont want to carry anything around that says Cupcake now but I figured this would be the perfect fabric for this purse (and a good way to use up my stash). The change was finding my happiness. This is going to be up for grabs in my STS store for the Fall rounds.
Quote: And they lived happily ever after. Separately.

29  Cupcakery Fold Over Clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gozer on: April 07, 2017 01:02:00 PM
I found the free pattern by Swoon called the Heidi Fold over clutch and decided I would give it a whirl as my first time sewing vinyl. I used all stash fabric except for the vinyl and was so excited to find the dark reddish vinyl that worked so well with the fabric I had on hand.

The vinyl was softer than I thought and was pretty easy to work with. I used a walking foot with it, again a first. I am glad I tried something new as this opens up a whole new crop of bags to sew now. Wink  I know I still need work with the new material but overall it was fun.
The pattern was pretty basic and straight forward. I have the hardware to make one more. This one is going to go into my STS store in the Fall.
The purse unfolds via a magnetic clasp. The top has a zipper so you can store larger items.

It also has a handy zipper on the back for quicker access to smaller items.

In the end I really liked this design. The wristlet also unhooks to use it as a clutch. This was the larger version on the pattern.
Thanks for checking it out! Grin Grin Grin
